Turning down pro contracts to run in the NAIA where she’ll jog every race and win by 60+ seconds. The writing is on the wall.
Huge props to the jumpers coach Austin Roark. From coaching crappy NAIA jumpers to coaching the top college athlete in the nation. Definitely nothing else to see here…
Someone sounds jealous and unaccomplished.
Unaccomplished - yes absolutely. I’m a former NAIA runner that DNF’d in my one nationals race. No shame in that.
Jealous - not at all. I’m actually rooting hard for Addy. She deserves a massive contract. She deserves a pro team to support her. What I’m against is the idea of the best middle distance runner in the USA running for Huntington and us acting like that’s totally normal. It’s not normal. The fact that she hasn’t signed a pro deal by now is all we need to know.
Hahaha!!!! Adds is doing awesome, and you sad lot are spending Friday evening trying to tear our most promising young runner down. It’s pathetic, really, but you all deserve it.
Someone seemed to imply that Chris Layne might be her agent on another thread. Does anyone know if there’s any truth to that? Tbh though, I’m not even exactly sure if that’s what they were implying, or if they were saying he’s the only one who would take a chance on her.
I would be shocked if it was Chris. I can’t imagine any scenario where a NAIA coach wants to touch that situation. NAIA folks have known about the HU shadiness since 2018.
From that dyestat article is sounds like she doesn’t actually have an agent yet (at least according to Roark). At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if her “agent” was a mysterious “Jick Nohnson”.
Forfusion is a fellow coach at a small school in the area, and tonight he is posting as though he were Coach Roark’s jilted ex-lover. I think that tells you all you need to know.
Wiley ran that race the correct way. She had to remain close enough to the pace at 1100 to go sub 4 minutes. But once she was that close there wasn't going to be much of a kick.
I appreciate that she didn't look thrilled after the race. There were no giddy facial expressions and bouncing up and down after seeing her time. She got a taste of the Diamond League and saw how much improvement is required, especially since this race lacked Kipyegon, Welteji, Haylom, etc.
I have no idea what Chepchirchir was doing out there. She is very talented but also so raw it lends to strange tactics. Apparently she thought she was overly bold in Xiamen so this time she let the move go. But then she waited far too long to respond and had far too much left at the finish.
Who is Wiley’s coach? I asked this before and there was no answer. Is it Roark?
Whomever downvoted this, just answer the question if you know.
Why the downvote? It, along with the question about who she’s training with, are simple questions that merit simple answers - not downvotes. They’re totally innocuous questions. Downvoting just adds more fuel to the fire.
I have seen it confirmed in a DM between coaches that at least as recently as last May Lauren was writing all her workouts and that they’re seen together in town frequently.
why hasn’t she signed a contract? Because as a pro she’ll have more eyes on her and she will be asked who her actual coach is more frequently. This is an awesome charade for her, she can race all over the world and show up for the occasional naia race and tempo and text Nick to come post on any thread that’s talks negative about her whenever she runs a fast time
What time do I need to run in order to say that Addy continuing to run for Huntington is weird?
I’m more interested in your illustrious coaching career… enlighten me.
Not a coach. Not even a runner anymore. Not sure who you think I am, but I was a random mid distance runner in the NAIA that ran a couple decent 800s. I’m a nobody, but I also was there when the stuff at HU started raising eyebrows.
If I ever get back into running/coaching, I can only hope that I am as successfully as the brilliant Austin Roark.
