Please don't put speed ratings for woodbridge here; woodbridge speed ratings have never been correct and it is a very hard course to speed rate for tullyrunner. This is because so many people best performance of the season at woodbridge, so the gap between slower runners and faster runners is a lot less.

Did you miss "If it helps and for what its worth"? Better than just times on different courses. And that gap issue is true on all those courses so apples to apples.

Good point if we are just comparing woodbridge courses to woodbridge course then it is helpful.

Woodbridge is weird because you have guys like Ryan Thomas (a speed based guy with a 4:07 1600) that come out of nowhere and run 14:17 to place top 20 at woodbridge. Yet this guy runs horrendous times at Mt Sac and Woodward Park. At the state meet he ran 16:21 5k (I have zero idea how this is possible if you can run 14:17 at woodbridge).

My advice: if your performance is insanely better at woodbridge than any other course, go to Runninglane. Don't bother trying to go to Footlocker or Nike Nationals, just go to runninglane.

I just did a quick search for my seasonal speed ratings for the recent girls in your list ... they appear after the ".." and the Woodbridge speed rating is bolded, the ratings are sequential order most recent first ... Frias, McDonnell and Lowe had their best seasonal rating at Woodbridge ... Engelhardt was very consistent all season, as were most of these girls ... the Woodbridge ratings were consistent with their other ratings ... the Woodbridge ratings were good ... Woodbridge is fairly easy to speed rate.

The general consensus among the Cali runners groups I know is that equivalent performances are as follows
14:00 Woodbridge = 15:00 Woodward park = 14:40 Mt Sac.
This is assuming conditions are absolutely perfect in Woodward Park and Mt Sac. Conditions are always perfect for Woodbridge. Everyone I know tappers for both Woodbridge and state. Woodbridge will also gives a boast to speed/very good track runners and adrenaline junkies that like the thrill of a fast night race.
However Californians love their Woodbridge course more than anything, so they might be biased but as someone who has raced very hard at each course, I feel this is pretty accurate.
They also seem to think runninglane is the same as Woodbridge but a 5k but nobody I know has actually raced there so I can’t verify this one.

This is a small sample size, but it does test what was thought to be an extreme case. When the Newbury Park 4 smashed the 3 mile record at Woodbridge, this board and elsewhere had some people screaming that it was ridiculous, the course must be way short, etc. Well at RunningLane, they hit the 3 mile mark at 13:37, and Leo's Woodbridge record was 13:38, and kept sprinting a little further. Which makes sense because they were in even better shape then. Now some may argue that it just proves RunningLane is short as well, but it is a data point towards them being roughly equivalent.

Phillip Rocha is right! The Mt Sac record is definitely the softest record. German Fernandez still holds the most impressive performance on california soil.

anyone fast going to go after the mt sac record this year? No point in trying to take Fernandez's record that's crazy talk, woodbridge ehhh a little difficult. Mt sac is where you can add your name in the history books!

49 out of 50 states peak for their state meet and nationals. CA already good, but imagine how good they could be if they didn't peak for an invitational in September.

The big mistake all big time Cali runners have made is not peaking at CIF Prelims and CIF Finals to try to get the Mt Sac Course record.

It will be worth it, your legs will be completed dead when you get to the state meet. You most likely will not qualify for nationals…But over 25000 people race that course every year, and they will see your name as the course record holder for the largest invitational in the nation, just saying
