Pretty good meet considering the fields. Hopefully they get a better date next year not so close to WCs and Zurich. Looking forward to more track in China
This is only his 4th time not in the top 2 of a 110m Hurdles race since he left college. I'd still take him over basically anybody. Consistency in this event is one of the hardest things in track and field.

China gave World Athletics a lot of money to sponsor the Diamond League, so China expects there to be Diamond League meets in China. Not sure why that is hard for you to understand.
Give the kid a break. This is all new to him flying halfway across the world, just a few days after his first global championships.
Wanyonyi 1:43.20
Arop 1:43.24
Kinyamal 1:44.04
Clear sign of the decline of these black East Africans, isn't it Coevy?
It's fantastic that the most talented Kenyan since Rudisha has edged to within 2 1/2 seconds of his WR. At that progress he might break it by the time he is 40. At least with the help of 17th gen super shoes.

Good point, Coevy.
The greatest talents of your beloved islanders are two seconds slower than your lord was almost half a century ago. With this sort of decline there might be some good chance that even in the year 2423 some of your beloved ones will run sub 2.
But Coevy, what's your point? Wanyonyi has run the world lead - not good enough for you? You expect a 1:41 regularly from a Kenyan? Because of genetics?
Excellent race from Wanyoni, Arop tried to play his tactic of the World Championships but didn't sucseed. If Arop is unable to drop under 1:43, Wanyoni is the guy to observe next year.
The stars who competed in the 1,500 at the Diamond League in Zurich crossed the finish line in 3'30'' but Mohamed Katir did so in 3'40'', a ridiculous mark for an athlete whose personal best is 3'28'' 76, something that makes it clear that he went jogging to Zurich in search of a succulent check that would be fixed.

The quotes from the athletes are such phony baloney. "Great meet!" "I love the crowd!" "Beautiful city!" "Fantastic experience!" Another China con job. And they read like they were translated into Chinese and then back into English, by Google translate.
OK, so just let the China Athletics Association sponsor one Diamond League meet a year, move it around from city to city without notice or explanation, pay World Athletics a nice sum, house the athletes in "beautiful hotels," and pipe down for the rest of the year.
Surprisingly decent meet. 110H/800/100/1500 were all good.
Wanyonyi is the real deal. Prior to July his main weakness to me was his first 200 meters. He’s really cleaned that up and gets to his spot now entering the second turn after a strong first 150. Arop was a bit overthinking those tactics. He should not have let Kinyamal go by. I understand him letting Wanyonyi by from 300-400 but why not stalk him as opposed to allowing a pass? I think he can run 1:42 if he runs a clean race tactically.
Holloway, I’m not too worried about. He does this every 5-6 races seemingly.
Coleman is getting pretty close. He should be back on the podium next year.
Jepchirchir is raw but going to be a contender next year and probably be right there with Welteji. Hailu should get the benefit of the doubt over Meshesha from now on.
Finally watching coverage - that meet was alot better than I thought it would be - competitive fields and nice facility. It was deserving of a recap podcast ;-)

Are the announcers even going to mention how Kerley and Jacobs have been talking shi* for years? I"m listening to the international feed and they haven't said anything yet.
That was a spring to early summer topic. Long since faded to semi irrelevancy, given subpar performances from each and especially due to Kerley's recent decline.
Nobody cares if two mid packers are yapping at each other. I was very surprised there was a thread here recently touting the matchup as if still top shelf news.
