NXR Heartland Predictions 2023

Merrick has been training at a high level more years than Zuber has. He is very good but is years ahead of peers in terms of training. Expect a much greater upside long term for Zuber. Guys like Kolby Greiner and Cole Schroeder had similar backgrounds to Merrick.

We disagree again, let’s revisit this in a couple years.

Do you know what his birthday is? I am curious about how much older Zuber is.

Heartland is loaded in individual males. Girls, not so much.

I am surprised at that rating for Wayzata.

Dowling Catholic beat Cedar Falls head to head at the state meet and somehow, Cedar Falls speed ratings are higher.

I think Mounds View will be top 10. They have a transfer Poppler (16:00 PR) who finally gets to race with the varsity.

People need to remember that Iowa and Wisconsin had their state meet a week before Minnesota, so the speed ratings of teams from Iowa and Wisconsin would have probably been a little higher if their state meet was on the same day as Minnesota’s

Wayzata’s top 4 is better than Dowling’s and Cedar Falls’ top 4. To beat those teams, Wayzata’s 5th man needs to be at least as close to Dowling’s and Cedar Falls’ 5th man as possible

Stevens Point is the favorite in this region

I see that Ankeny Centennial is entered but not Ankeny. Interesting

Individuals NXN qualifier boys predictions (in no particular order):

- Juan Gonzalez NE (beat Ethan Zuber at the Heartland classic)

Aloysius Franzen will probably be in the top 5 but I think his team will qualify, so that should give the 6th place person a qualifying spot
