Watching the interview video, I think Jakob actually liked the pacer question. Sure, it's a bit silly (I don't think he'd be more prepared for Worlds by doing a no pacer race), but it's also more interesting than the average "What are your plans after this race?" question.
How were you able to not understand his answer? He even answered in your language, despite it not being his mother toungue. Was it just too hard to pay attention to the short clip?
Let me explain it to you, take notes and read closely: it wouldn't make any difference to "practice without pacers" as every race he is the pacer. He is running without pacers every meet as he leads every meet for most of the 1500. If you look at any DL meet this year he is acting like a pacer for the rest of the field. That was his point. Got it?
Seriously Rojo, how are you not spending the extra effort to pay attention and understand his answer to your question?
Even if we overlook his humorous point, anyone should be able to think that a man that has run 4 unpaced world finals (with 4 semi finals), 1 unpaced olympic final (1 semi final), 4 unpaced european championships, 4 unpaced european championships (indoors), 2 unpaced world junior championships does not have a screaming need to practice running without pacers.
Rojos answer (and the original question) is valid, and you're doing the same you blame Rojo for doing. You're starting to sound like a road runner from coastal Norway at the moment.
Jakob gave the rabbits huge credit.
Jakob lost last year when he acted as the rabbit.
Asking him about WC and him being the rabbit for a whole race is not just valid, but also what they should ask. Its the one thing ("Flaw" if you will) by his running style. They absolutely should and have to ask that question.
Obviously its fair that Jakob doesn't agree that is an issue, given that he have and often have to pace larger portion of the race, but as he himself (and everyone knows) admittet, drafting is an advantage.
1. Don't you see the difference between setting a 4th best time of all time and winning a WC? It seems like Rojo doesn't grasp the difference, but you surely have to?
2. What would he learn from running a DL meet without pacers? I think he already know that he has to take no risk in the start, don't waste any energy in the middle and then run them down in the end.

Hahahaha. Are you triggered? You must be Norwegian.🤣
My times have nothing to do with the FACTS of my post, which you pathetically avoided:
"Jakob sure talks big about how unimportant pacers are... for a guy who crapped the bed in his last un-paced championship 1500."
Say something meaningful on the actual topic, if you can. Don't be so obsessed with me.😘
Jakob dismisses the idea of practicing un-paced races, yet in his only un-paced race with serious competition last year he was trashed by a runner with a slower PR.
All the 1500s he ran on the track in 2022 were personally paced DL races, and a slow win at European champs.
The LetsRun question was smart: "Should you practice racing unpaced events?"
I'm not ready for a world where Jakob doesn't win the 1500.
Not because he lost. The winner had to be better on the day, so in any case that's well deserved.
No, purely because we'd never hear the end of it. Every LRC production longer than 2 paragraphs of text or 2 minutes of video would make sure to remind us that in 2023 rojo was right.
Has anyone on here noticed that Jakob is not the defending 1500m World Champion? Not outdoors. Not even indoors. Why do so many people here think he is invincible? El G got used to time-trial after time-trial, and got beat by Noah N.

The question was a good one BUT presumably some of the fans want to see Jakob run fast and it seems that was a goal he had this year, so it might be logistically difficult to ask for no rabbits and then other athletes may want rabbits too, but if it costs him a WC Gold I am sure he would not like it. However if Jakob does not win Gold we cannot know whether the outcome would be different if he raced some without rabbits. Let us be more honest here: IF Jakob’s main goal is Budapest it would also be a good question to ask why he didn’t experiment more in his races, as if I coached him I might ask him to occasionally run from behind and see how that works for him, to learn more about himself and his “rivals.”
Jakob is properly laughing at the classic American ignorance that leading is somehow a disadvantage. This website is daily hilarity with the obsession over closing splits. We've even had assertions that multiple American women might medal in the Budapest 1500. Meanwhile those medals are decided within the first 50 meters. If you don't go with the pace you're already irrelevant.
Prodigies don't have to worry about drooling recitations of history. They clear the pack early and remain there. Late blooming stiffs need to bother with tactics. This website's thought process is Kincaid oriented, not Jakob caliber.
Jakob's only mistake last year was assuming Wightman had settled behind him. Virtually ever runner is too intimidated to pass the likes of Jakob or Mu. Jakob assumed Wightman would fall in line. Jakob therefore turned his head to his left toward the infield just before Wightman surged again. Underestimation. I posted after that race that from now on every Jakob 1500 would be just like Farah at 5000 and 10,000, pulling out just enough to remain in front until applying the dagger late.
The 5000 is a bit different. He doesn't respect those guys and knows he has plenty of time to toy with them.

What happens when a prodigy races a prodigy? You make it sound as if they’re not human. You make a mistake.
I think Nordas will pace for 400 then Jakob will take over from there. Best scenario for him to medal too if it’s a fast race since he says he has no kick
I'm taking a victory lap. I'm so thrilled to see someone started a thread on it. 99% of the media might as well not even be at the meet or asking questions as they aren't going to ask anything remotely interesting of insightful.
Somehow, I was able to do that from thousands of miles away.
The timing of the question was perfect and that was pure coincidence. Jakob raved about rabbits and how they make a huge difference, and then guy asked him him if he's ever thought about trying a DL without rabbits and Jakob somehow proceeds to say there is no difference between Diamond League (rabbitted) and Worlds (unrabbitted), exposing a logical fallacy between the start and end of his interview.
Look I get why Jakob didn't love the question. He's in the form of his life. He just crushed his pb and the field. He wants there to be zero doubt in his mind and my question probably planted a tiny bit of doubt.
I honestly hope he pulls it off from the front but physics is real and drafting helps. Look at what happened to Kipchoge in Boston, the GOAT Tried to lead Boston into a headwind and flamed out.
Check out the WTW when it comes out on Tuesday but only 33% of the time in the 15 years from 2007-2022 has the guy with the fastest seasonal time in the global 1500 won the gold medal.
Rojo, that's a bit of a self absorbed/arrogant take. The guy just set a European record. He's been training for these moments since he was a kid. I'd guess that he thinks the interview should focus on what he just accomplished. I highly doubt that one question from
is going to "plant a tiny bit of doubt". If he already had doubt, then you just reminded him at a slightly inappropriate time. If he didn't have doubt, then he just thinks it is a silly disrespectful question.
This is literally what people mean when they talk about Toxic Masculinity, and it shouldn't be celebrated. Sad, because usually the Scandinavians are ahead of us on these issues.
I'm still waiting to hear more about this "toxic masculinity" comment. Could the poster, or anyone else who agrees with this, elaborate on how Jakob's comments evoked toxic masculinity?
