Mike Smith is committed to making NAU womens track just as good as the mens. They were 6th at XC last year, a massive improvement plus a solid recruiting class coming in. a couple of NM transfers might be the thing that gets them on the podium.

My thoughts exactly. Team is on the rise. Solid returners and great incoming freshman plus I am hearing of at least one confirmed transfer who hasn’t been announced

thats great. they get top transfers for the mens team but can't recall them ever getting a top womens transfer. was hoping Natalie Cook would go there, i think she visited. but she decided on Colorado.

Franklin will have success in bringing his foreign legion to Louisville. But the women's team is at the bottom of the ACC in XC and the men's team the bottom 1/3. Reasonable success will be a few All Americans and placing in the middle or top 1/3 of the conference. He is closer to home in the last act of his career. Louisville will want both their men's and women's teams to improve. It lacks the altitude of NM. It has UNM's academics, both of which aren't as good as his earlier job at Butler - a solid Midwest liberal arts college that is also beautiful. As a big school, Louisville should have enough people to to develop someone alongside any foreign recruits, but unlike Butler, there isn't an academic or cultural pull. It's hard to see Louisville becoming a powerhouse even with the recruiting pipelines. That is fine. The AD will be happy to pay out the higher salary if the teams get into the upper 1/3 of the conference and have a few all conference performers.

Louisville men just placed 3rd in the ACC in outdoor track. They are going to get away from their strengths to focus primarily on distance.
I agree that they will struggle to ever become a distance powerhouse. Most of the appeal of New Mexico was the altitude and beautiful training environment, not him as a coach (not saying he's a bad coach, he is a good coach).
At New Mexico, Joe might have recruited 8 international athletes to get 3 to commit each year. Now if he recruits 8 he might only get 1 because they'll be less likely to commit.
If all are healthy and fit Hertenstein, Cook, Covert, Dishon, Baran make a strong five. Dishon was last of this 5 in 2022 at 31 in team race.

The answer is yes as right now I would place NC St's (incl Tuohy) 5th well back of 31. Of course will all of the injured athletes be at their best again? I am curious how CO finds the $ for all of these transfers as they also have recruits coming in from hs. NIL?

it'll be tough. Chismel, Tyynismaa, Bush, and Tuohy are all capable of finishing in the Top 10.
I would not put Bush in top 10 right now. As are Hertenstein and Cook. And Covert in the teens, and the other 2 in the 20s. But thru 4 NC ST likely ahead but that 5th.....
