It took a Floyd Landis to blow the whole Lance Armstrong doping story open. Craig’s at the point of his career that he’s going to be leaving the pro scene soon and probably seeing the landscape of the sport from a different perspective.
I don’t want to speak for Craig. But I know pro American runners see him as not just some guy. If he speaks it does hold weight. But the balance of imploding the sport is something that probably weighs on a lot of pros.
It does take one voice to clearly speak out on what’s going on to see changes. But I’ve always believed that once the allegations start coming from within it opens up all sorts of negative press that I’m not sure the sport can recover from.
I hope pros saw his message and/or this thread as an assurance that it’s ok to be vocal about actual clean sport.
