Its annoying for sure, but cmon...if you can play college ball somewhere or sit on a bench for four yrs, who are we to judge. Just think about football....one guy can play qb, thats it. If you can xfer and start....every one of us would do it. Its good for kids to have options. It will have side effects though.
She committed to OSU before she became a national class runner. She only became national class when she won nxn/foot l in December of her Sr yr, but commitment to OSU was in November. Therefore OSU was recruiting her off her '3 yr consistent level in hs'.
That consistent level in hs was also very good. Numerous TX state podiums in track and xc. 140xc speed rating as a soph. It just wasn't 'double national champion's good.

Natalie Cook won Runninglane, not NXN. However, that was the year that NXN didn't take place. So everyone who would have run NXN ran Runninglane instead.
So it wasn't a "totally different level of competition" as you incorrectly claimed.
OSU recruited her off those 10:20ish times. The 9:41 came about 7 months after her signing. The only benefit she got from any Trump Card was personal glory. The amazing peak she achieved lasted 13-14 months from Texas xc state thru BU meet 15:24 in early December.
If there is any validity to your concern, it's actually the new school that will be effected.
I think she'll make a better comeback than you do. If you have to go to full rest before recovery, the comeback to peak fitness can be slow, Ex: Tuohy, Dudek, Hutchins.
We need more control over coachers. A transfer portal for coaches is needed along with salary caps, some multiple of student tuition.
A coach would have to officially declare his intention to seek another coaching job. All offers have to be submitted to the school and the NCAA. This protects the team and the school. There wouldn't be any bidding wars because the salary would be capped.
All coaches would be required to submit their training and development plans for each of their athletes. This must also be provided to all prospects. A report would be published annually to show how well the plans were followed and outcomes, including miles and hours spent training each week.
Even if that were true, why would you feel the need to take time out of your day to write that? I highly doubt that she visits this site, but if she did, would you really feel good about her reading that? And not just her… other young athletes might read that, too. She probably is already pretty upset with her injury and doesn’t need some random person declaring to the internet that she only ran fast because she lost weight.
I know RED-S is a serious thing, but to say that Natalie only ran faster her senior year of high school and freshman year of college because she lost weight just seems unfair. No one except her knows exactly what she did differently between 11th and 12th grade. None of us know if she purposely lost weight. There are so many factors that go into running fast, and she has said numerous times that she struggled with injuries and finally figured out training that worked. Also, 10:20 for a high school girl is amazing anyway. Especially with injuries and that low of running volume.
99% of people are rooting for her comeback, and I don’t know why you aren’t. She seems like a nice kid with a whole lot of talent and heart, and I hope she gets to go somewhere where she can stay healthy/happy. We’ve seen a lot of great comebacks on the women’s side in the last year, and I really bet she’ll be another one in the fall 2023-2024 seasons.
Totally different. Many states allow open enrollment in High school but most have a waiting period if the fsmily doesnt move. But the coaches are free to switch to another school without moving. They don't want all of the best basketball players in a city to switch to the sane high school overnight.
