Camille Herron has just broke the 300k world record in 48 hour race in Australia

Has anyone checked if Camille cheated at this race? And why in the world is this a 48 hour race of only running laps around a small track? That's enough boredom to drive someone mentally insane. This 300K track record is really weak because no one with a sane mind would subject themselves to that much boredom going in small circles for 48 hours.

I think what you are saying, and perhaps you are correct, is if we could get psychiatric patients to train for a few years for this type of race, there is a chance one of them could break the world record.

Yes, if you are an elite ultra guy, then yes, of course you could run a 50km at her 16:40 5km pace. That is "only" 5:20 pace. 5:20 for 50km is very, very good though. So you'd be one of the best 50km guys in the country. Again, if you are, sorry for assuming the opposite.

Humans are always testing the limits of endurance. Camille's effort is an amazing testament to her ability to get the most out of herself. It is being reported in the local media here that she went through a rough patch at 12 hours.

Don't be amazed, there is zero drug testing in ultras and the Sri Chinmoy race Camille jogged in just now is not a WADA member and doesn't have any anti-doping policy. So yes, the ultra walk/joggers do drug themselves to stay awake and very likely have all sorts of PEDs in their bodies that would make roided up Ryan Hall blush since there is no rule against PEDs in ultras. Which is pretty funny when you think about what Camille accused Ashley of.

Was at the 48hr event though ran a much shorter event than Camille did.

I can confirm drug testing was present as it was a IAU silver level event.

Congratulations Camille on the World Record.

Only 1 of Camille and Ashley has ever tested positive for a banned drug and it wasn't Camille.

Amazing performance and comparing her to elite non-ultra runners isn't completely fare. If Ultras had the prize money of marathon races, her times would be smashed. This could be said about many sports. She is great competing at an event that lacks elite level athletes. She did win the Comrades Marathon and that has a few runners close to the level of the runners at the marathon majors and big prize money. Not sure but "think" it is around $500k.

She has found a less competitive niche and has excelled. Smart lady! Wish I had her talent.
