Same sentiment, but going beyond running topics. The policy of a single official thread on controversial running and non-running topics should be more widely used and enforced.
It's an imperfect way to discourage bad actors, but clear policy is easier to moderate and it's better than letting the ideological warriors piss on everything.
"ideological warriors" = people you don't agree with
"ideological warriors" = people who won't take yes for an answer.
Mr. Wejo! It is transfer portal season for distance and it is blowing up the board! Can you please get journalistic clarification on the portal window dates/rules and make it and preferably make it an article?

2: Hire a female Jonathan Gault to balance out perspective. Please make sure she is not bald, has no tattoos, and can run a 5K under 18:00.
3: Posters who are banned or offend the greater LRC community on a regular basis should only be allowed to post in a special quarantined section.
4: Poster of the month or year award.
5: LRC members who wear LRC T-shirt in an actual race can get their picture displayed on special page of honor or shame depending on one's viewpoint. This might encourage more members to shoot for that elusive sub-3:07 'Thon.
6: Mods should be forced to watch all of Mel Brooks movies before given the keys to LRC moderation.
7: Editing your post after a designated time limit to correct errors in proofreading or mental lapse.

- It would be great to expand the podcast interviews to a wider range of people. I think Cram and Hutchings would be great interviews. I'd love to hear more from international athletes if their English is good enough -- perhaps Sifan Hasan, definitely Jakob I; I'd love to hear from top Kenyan runners or coaches to get more insight into the world of Kenyan distance running; David Rudisha would be amazing.
- fix the website bug where some posts display twice (like mine, above)
#2 I Like
#3 we sped up the backend so you see your post faster. It is showing 2 posts to the original poster initially some of the time but not to everyone else. But we will fix this.
A reason why a thread was deleted.... not necessarily a post in the thread..but the thread itself.
We can work on this if you have the URL of the original thread. Right now we don't want deleted threads taking up space in the index but if you clicked on one perhaps we could show why it is gone.
I'm definitely a distance guy first, but I'd like to have a much better idea of which top US sprinters train together, who coaches them, and where they are based.
For distances running, we have these easily visible groups like BTC, OAC, etc. but hardly anyone can name the coach of someone like Fred Kerley or who he trains with off the top of their head. I know from recent news that Mu and McLaughlin-Levrone are coached by Bobby Kersee but that's about it.
LetsRun doing some sort of run-down / expose for each of the biggest USA-based sprint groups would be neat.
This actually would be informative for us as well. We're a running website but our emphasis is on distance running so expanding more coverage of some of the sprint stuff would be helpful for everyone.
Some great ideas here so far. I'll respond to some that caught my eye.
Wow. I really like this idea. I may make this my personal resolution for 2023. Can you come up with 12 injuries or maybe we just do 6?
12 examples, feel free to exclude some and include others. Might be dependent on the quality of the articles/threads/knowledge of the injury. There are a lot of good injury threads out there.
Sciatica Piriformis Upper Hamstring Tendinopathy Extensor Tendonitis Plantar Fasciitis Achilles Tendonitis Athletic Pubalgia Lateral Compartment Syndrome IT Band Syndrome Bone Spur (Hip, Foot) Iliopsoas Tendinopathy Osteoarthritis (tried to get an age specific or gender specific injury, this is more of a cause of injury)
General - Stress Fracture, Shin Splints, Runner's Knee, Muscle Strain, Calf Heart Attack ? I guess it wouldn't make sense to include more catastrophic injuries like ACL Tear or breaking a bone.
And you don't even have the one I may do first. Accessory navicular or navicular stress fracture.
Do you always post video of the podcast? I’ve seen a couple on YouTube, but I typically use Apple or Spotify to listen.
No we don't often post the full video. Can you watch a full video on apple podcasts now? i use overcast on my iphone for podcasts and it doesn't have video.
maybe really old interview videos don't have to constantly play in the upper right hand corner? all they do is drain the battery of my device really quickly and when you are still showing the same ones from Worlds no one who hasn't seen them is going to start watching now.
Wejo - As you can see from the posts here, its pretty clear that the "runnning thread" only is popular because all of us are tired of the trolls, period. Even with the box checked, I still get plenty of non-running threds that show up.
Time to revisit the concept of ONLY registered users posting on the boards so that we can finally stop dealing with the insanity of the right-wing, vaxx-deniers in every single thread. If everyone is registered, you could stop the amount of time that you and Rojo have spent walking this tightrope of letting users freely in then having to semi-police the whole thing constantly, or having the vast majority of us complain when yet another good discussion is torn apart by the trolls.
I'd be happy to re-register if it meant that i could somehow clean-up this message board experience.
Re the running only threads. Perhaps we just creat a todo and have someone check that at least once a day so it is more accurate. I don't think it's a feature those of us who work at letsrun use and we rely on self identification of the threads. I'll start monitoring it this week myself and some up with something.
#2 I think some of the worst posters are registered posters. Maybe it bugs me if people are constantly causing issues and getting banned here and there. Maybe we come up with a points system and if you get banned so many times you're gone.
I generally believe in the concepts of the 1st amendment and only want to lifetime ban the worst of the worst, but Letsrun isn't a public square as much as twitter. It's a a community where every post has equal wait and thus perhaps we should consider. But if you're just a constant ass can we kick you out of the community? But that is a slippery slope I generally don't want to go down. Some want Rojo gone and I love his posts.

Some good suggestions.
#4 is appealing.
#5 we need to get this going. I think people email pictures and we do nothing with them.
#7 will happen this year.
As for #3, I feel like you've been banned a lot but really don't know;) Mainly I just get irritated because I have no idea what TMADDDHASFNE is but figure it can't be good.
