So Tuohy haters are so desperate they are comparing her to a male runner? Lol. Also something about biological differences between men and women when discussing wrs, etc.
Someone criticized Rojo for speculating Nico is a better long term prospect than Tuohy. Rojo was CORRECT.
I seem to recall seeing Tuohy lose her race when she ran her PR in the 5000. She is 40 seconds from world class while Nico is 20 seconds away. This is a fact. His score is higher than hers. This is a fact. She hasn't improved as much as him. This is a fact.
Tuohy is the fastest 20-year-old American runner in the 1500m/5000m double. This is a fact. Comparing her times to a male runner who is training like a professional runner is sure fair.
Touhy is essentially a pro. She has an extremely lucrative NIL sponsorship with Adidas that is likely over 200,000 per year.
This is pathetic. Can't land any arguments discussing female athletes so you all start comparing to guys - who have a totally different trajectory than female collegiate runners. Thanks to testosterone through highschool. A 1169 on iaaf 5k is 14:57, a time no ncaa college female has ever run. Great analysis!
It sure was pathetic. It was a Tuohy who introduced him into the discussion. And he is so much better than her. She is far away from being world class while he is nearly there. But you Tuohy fans can believe that she will somehow find a way to drop 45 seconds in the 5000. Not happening. She is so bulked up that she is more likely to start going in the other direction.
This is the introduction of Nico into the discussion (by someone else, not me). Not a statement of who is better, just something from the past and another instance of people writing Tuohy off.
So it is you who seems desperate to say which one is better.
"What does Katelyn have to do on here to prove herself? Remember when she won her THIRD national high school title, and Rojo posted a tacky thread comparing her to Nico Young, who had won his first title, saying he believed Young is the better future prospect? The girl won for a third time, and because the margin of victory was less than a second, Rojo was frothing at the mouth ready to pounce on her demise. Imagine what would be said about her if she finished 2nd or 3rd? At nationals?"

So now she is without a doubt the most dominant NCAA runner in the game, and we are trashing her because her margin of improvement isn't good enough for us? What is it about Tuohy--about girls in general that make it so when a girl isn't "burning out" on time, people get agitated and impatient? Why do we cling to the burnout narrative so much?
Um, no. The poster who brought Nico up did it as a commentary on how FEMALE RUNNERS are treated by these stupid burnout predictions and what Rojo said specifically. It's not about Nico, it's about the commentary. You don't get it.
Why must you get so emotional about a discussion of an athlete that you have never met? Nobody hates her. Nobody even dislikes her. This is a running website where we should be able to talk about runners without the fear of being blasted by a few emotional posters. Personal attacks of posters are not allowed.
