Musk is his own type of virus, but I got to admit, things like being 'forced' to either celebrate or ignore mentally ill people who pretend to be something they objectively aren't makes me feel like I'm on crazy pills. There is no common sense middle road anymore. Both extremes are exhausting.
The only thing Musk does is diverting sorely needed attention from class issues into a futile form of culture war that gets everyone's attention while class divides further increase. The result is a more volatile and fragmented society devoid of trust.

Twitter just suspended the account that tracks Musk's jet using publicly available information and suspended progressive economist Dean Baker for making Elon jokes. Ukrainian activists are reporting that they are being shadow banned while twitter did nothing about an anti-Semitic cartoon showing a cartoon of Zelensky with a hook nose that the Russian government posted.
Musk wants to transform twitter into a right wing platform. He is posting constant right wing garbage in order to cause an exodus on twitter of everyone who is from the center to left. He posted the Fauci tweet because he wants science twitter to leave. Science twitter has been very effective at communicating on twitter against the disinformation that has come from the COVID deniers. Musk wants the COVID deniers to own twitter because he doesn't want any more disruptions at his Tesla plants and is still made about lockdowns and supply chain disruptions that hurt Tesla.
I have a hard time believing any of this is about the interests of Tesla. Musk is destroying shareholder value at a rate never seen before. He has turned an incredibly strong brand into a pariah in less than 3 months.
Tesla has lost $630 billion in value since he announced his offer to buy Twitter in April. In the time since he finally agreed to go through with the purchase in October, TSLA has lost $370 billion in value.
And all of that is before his new trump-light image starts impacting Tesla sales and resale value.
