Growing up, my brothers and I would run around the perimeter of our yard, about 150 meters loops. We would run "long runs" of dozens of laps, and race shorter 1-4 lap "races". We even kept a notebook of progressions of the records we set everyday.
On my LDS mission, I would wake up at 6:30 and do laps around the sidewalk of the space in between 2 apartment buildings, a loop of about 170 meters while my companion would sit and watch from the balcony/lift free weights. I remember one morning 20lbs overweight, being ecstatic to break 6 mins in a mile.
I am very much enjoying everyone's stories! Runners are crazy!
