NXN, RunningLane, Champs – Will They All Survive?

Any predictions for how the post-season high school cross country schedule might change over the next couple of years? It’s now a crowded stage with Nike Cross Nationals (NXN), Garmin RunningLane (RXC), and Champs (formerly EastBay, Foot Locker, Kinney) all competing for top talent. Will they all survive? Or which will be the first one to fold?

This is one of the most inaccurate posts I've seen on here. I was there Friday and Saturday and heard nothing but good things from athletes, coaches, and parents.

RL just can't win on these boards. It's either too fast and "not a real XC course" or it's too slow and muddy. 2/3 of the years that RXC has been held has been ideal PR conditions. The weather just switched for NXN and RXC this year.

Also - RL does extensive homework on the race entries. That's why they post the Google Sheets page publicly leading up to the race week.

Notice how everyone moved on regardng the course length. It is obvious that the course is accurate but has the ebst footing of any course in the country. It gets a but muddy, and it ran slower than NXN.

The RL course is only a 5K if you follow that stupid painted yellow line in the middle of the course. Who the hell runs in the middle of a course? No one….therefore it is short. They painted that yellow line to show what the 5K would be.

Some people think that just because a course is an official 5k that the runners actually run 5k. At RunningLane that's not the case. It's officially 5k but the runners only run something like 4.95k.

Most of the top California runners ran NXN but Sadie Engelhardt ran Footlocker/Champs.

What are you talking about? I ran 3.15 miles for a 5km and was jaded. Thought it would run short, not even close. Same with the kids I ran with 3.13-3.16 miles. To me that is long based on the 14 other courses we ran during the year.

This is 100% incorrect. The yellow line is the center line, nothing more nothing less. They painted that line for people who are just out jogging on the course so they wouldn't always run on the tangent.
