in another thread someone said they may have worn just flats on a sloppy grass course and had bad traction. No idea if that's the entire explanation
Looking at pics someone sent me of an adams state spike, it looks to be one of two new balance mid D spikes. I unforetunately cannot just copy and paste pics here. But here are the links to the NB shoes.
Our MD500v8 is crafted with a synthetic and mesh upper and updated collar construction that delivers plush comfort without sacrificing speed. Designed for the emerging track athlete, these running shoes feature a 6-pin spike...
If it is true that the NB spikes don't allow you to change the spike length, these spikes look very short for a snowy day with some mud, I wouldn't be suprised that these spikes couldn't handle the terrain saturday.
Can someone correct my understanding of the D2 qualifications? From the podcast it sounds like because of the no pushing rule, csu pueblo could only spoil since it didn't have a quality regular season win if they didn't place top 3. If CSU pueblo had finished 4th, they would have effectively closed of the south central region from having any at large bids?
What do you think it was? It can't really just be shoes can it?
Honestly seems like a classic example of taking your skill for granted. They went out there thinking there was no way they didn't qualify and the times show it. Was just supposed to be a going through the motions sort of race but they did it in a region that wasn't messing around. Even when the going got bad no one decided to step up. Would be interested to see the splits of some of these runners as there was none it seems for the live results.
TLDR: They didn't want to come with their A game and paid the price for it. Don't try, don't succeed.

For comparison purposes, 2nd place Zeru had 4:49, 4:51, 4:47, 4:52, 4:57, 4:53, last quarter at 4:49.
