Of course, it's a large part due to better testing finally being introduced to East Africa, which has not only degraded the performances of East Africans, but it's spurred on the rest of the world, who now can believe they are competing on a more level playing field.

The myth is over.

And Max would have won the 800m, and Keely was impeded by Mu.

And let's give Jake Wightman the 100% credit he deserves for beating Jakob, who unlike as some were saying the other day, is clearly at his very best here.

Athletics ideally fills the space for the remaining 95% black men in the USA. They essentially don't do anything else than athletics and boxing.

normally that’s not what participate means. participation in those sports is far greater than participation in track even if certain rare body types are preferable to elite play. even so, 40% of nba players are shorter than bolt and probably 90% of nfl players. sure bolt is taller than most sprinters, but he’s also the best ever, so it seems to be a fair benchmark.

i’d prefer to keep the conversation on distance running, i just wanted to point out again how bad your participation estimates are. 99.9% of east africans doing track is still the worst one.

Setting aside the results of every woman’s distance race, the men’s marathon and the 10k. Based on your assertion. East African’s must just work harder.

No, they have a rampant doping culture, plus a huge participation rate of talented athletes as compared to the West. They are also at the right point in terms of childhood diet and activity levels.

Part of the myth of the natural born East African runner was some 1970's Scandinavian study that supposedly took several random Kenyan high-school kids and trained them alongside an 'elite' Danish runner - who they beat. It turned out the Danish runner was 50 years old and had a lifetime pb of 17 minutes or something, and the Kenyan kids were already trained. It still gets quoted here though.

Jakob (and Gjert) has effectively done the reverse for real. A random Scandanavian kid trained makes some of the greatest East African runners in history look silly.
