Eliminate: triple jump, race walk, hammer throw, steeplechase, 200m, 800m, 10,000m
These events are derivative of other "real" events. We even coach it that way.
triple jump= guys not good enough for the LJ
hammer- guys not good enough to be a discus/shot
steeple- not good enough for the 1500m 5000m
800m- too slow for the 4, not strong enough for the 1500
10,000- entirely unnecessary.

You summbitches! I'm trying to market this bloated sport and move it into the Prime Time.
Among the events that don't interest me are those where biological males present as women.
Probably the multis. Maybe not "no" interest, but less interest than the other events.
I used to never pay much attention to throws, but now they're some of my favorite events - probably within the past six years. I like nearly all the events, honesty.
hep, discus, womens shot
The problem with the hep/dec is they are "Jacks (Jills) of all trades masters of none".
Events where athletes aren't emotional, aren't interesting, don't talk much trash, don't stoke huge rivalries. Pretty much everything outside of the sprints and shot put.
At the moment it's men's and women's 400m and men's 800m. Need a guy to consistently run 43 / 1:43 to make it worth a watch. For women's 400, I don't really know what is missing.
I used to not like jump events nor the pole vault. But then started to really enjoy the high jump after watching Barshim and Lasitskene in Doha 2019. Both high jump finals in Tokyo last year were also epic. I guess knowing the back stories of the athletes (Barshim in 2019, Tamberi and Lasitskene in 2021) make a huge difference when watching the competition. Also in Doha Morris and Sidorova going 1 on 1 in the pole vault was really exciting to watch.
Never really cared about the long jump... But in Tokyo the gold was determined in the very end for both men and women, and the same thing happened again in men's long jump in Eugene a few days ago. The emotions are too raw and real to not love it.
Track should have these events: 100, 400, 800, 1600, 4x400 relay.
"But how would it go on for 2-3 weeks" you cry, it wouldn't. Screw the olympic ridiculousness. Champs won't even have heats and semis! Qualify by seasonal form, top 8 is in, 9+ stays home devastated.
OP didn't mention field events but TJ, discus and PV are ridiculous. Real world pole-vaulting is done for distance to get across water. Hammer is pointless if it has to be held far away from the spectators to avoid killing them.
Fisher and Nur ran really good.

Wrong thread, sorry.
I know it's probably blasphemy on this site, but I have no interest in any hurdle events. I just want to see the fastest runners, not the fastest at jumping over obstacles.
The only track events I could do without is the mixed relay and the 10k, but only because the latter is too much time to hold interest.
And, any field event except those with hot chix.

The women's PV is a joke. They are barely going as high as HS boys.
I agree that women’s PV is boring performance-wise, but I actually enjoy watching that event because those female pole vaulters are smokin’. Mmmmm mmmmm MMMMMM!
