That drug would do nothing to help an 800m runner other than as a weight loss supplement, and there are other things people can take that are not carcinogenic. One explanation is some shady character sold it to Amos in which case Amos is definitely guilty. Zero chance his coach would be involved - the coach would know the dangers and know that all it does is help lose weight. You don't want an 800m runner to develop more slow twitch fibers, that would only reduce his performance. So this whole thing is very strange. Seems plausible that Amos may have panicked about his fitness and got it from someone who was as ignorant about the drug as Amos is.
I can't imagine being a coach - if one of your athletes does something stupid you risk getting tainted yourself. It *is* rather coincidental his coach only days ago announced a move to coach at a Canadian group.
I believe Amos was clean in 2012 and yes he was 18, he clearly looked like a 17 or 18 year old so those accusing him of age cheating are idiots. His missed tests apparently had to do with his use of marijuana when he was doing a lot of electronic music DJ work. Out of competition cannabis use is now permitted.
If he is guilty of doping I will be very disappointed. I have been a big believer in his talent, work ethic and fearless style of running. I believe his stagnation the past few years was partially due to filling out into his adult body, but also changing his running form had a big role. So many coaches think they know something about biomechanics when they actually understand next to nothing on the subject. I think Amos was hindered by excessive weight work along with changing his natural running style. Funny as it looked, his flailing style carried him to that 2012 London silver and great clocking at 18.
