The comments section under an article is where you go to get guidance as to the rights and wrongs of the world? Might as well just default to the loons that post here on letsrun.
I wasn't getting guidance, I was pointing out to Rojo that my opinion on Mo Farah is probably the majority one in the UK, or at least it's shared by millions of others.
Not that you already don't know this, but comment sections don't properly represent what a community feels.
So when over the past 30 years did the rest of his family (both in Somalia and UK) also change their name from Kahin to Farah? That includes his twin Hassan and his UK-based footballer cousin Yosin Farah? Was the latter trafficked and given the same too or does he just happen to have the same name? How has his large family back in Somalia managed to keep the name change quiet for so long? People in the village must have known about it. I look forward to seeing this and other anomaly explained before the new book comes out.
Rojo needs to check the comments underneath the Daily Mail article, the top voted ones calling for him to be stripped of his citizenship etc.
The Daily Mail is notorious for race baiting so it is not surprising the comments are from like minded people. It is also not surprising you hang out there. But don't worry, there will be another paper published tomorrow and you can froth at the mouth over the latest "outrage" stoked by the Daily Mail. What will it be? Luther Burrell, Gary Lineker, James Patterson.
Meanwhile, here is an article from the Daily Mail in 1934. Perhaps you would like a framed copy?
People on this board think being asked to wear a mask is a human rights violation and scream about freedom, but a child being trafficked, forced to work, denied education, left “unkempt and uncared for,” is nothing.
You are seriously disgusting people.
They scream about freedom but are happy to eat an animal that was tortured for 10 years and had her babies stolen and murdered along with the milk that was designed for them.
Lot's of people came out of Somalia in the early 90s. Many of them associated with the collapsed Marxist dictatorship of Siad Barre. Sounds like one of those families kidnapped or purchased him. Slavery was openly practiced in the country until the 1930s, and that tradition dies hard. I wonder about the legal consequences for his "family" in the UK. Probably none, since illegal activities by immigrants aren't really crimes.

You really got to get out more if you think the comment section of Daily Mail is representative for the opinions if the population in the UK. Like way way more. You can do it!
Why does every bloody thing turn into a f-ing investigation with this asshat site? Why don't you wait to watch the documentary. Until then, take this man at his word about one of the most horrendous things that can happen to a child happened to him.

Mo seems to serve two contradictory purposes for Americans. Firstly, he 'proves' that 'all Brits are dirty'. Secondly, he 'proves' that East Africans have a 'genetic advantage'.
Daily Mail readers make LetsRun posters look like Mother Teresa.

That's because Mother Teresa was actually an evil person propped up by the Catholic Church. Hitchens called her "a fanatic, a fundamentalist, and a fraud.". Hmmm, actually that is an accurate depiction of LRC posters.
The work of Catholic nun and missionary Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, commonly known as Mother Teresa and from 2016 as Saint Teresa of Calcutta, received mixed reactions from prominent people, governments, and organisations. Her pr...
What does he have to gain? He has a new book out and he has shown in the past that lying comes easy to him.
Why do so many on LRC believe Mo Farah's wild stories without credible evidence of being a slave and yet don't believe Houlihan who has a much stronger case of being clean?
Those questioning the word “trafficking” make no sense. A nine-year old has little say in how he is treated and can not be considered legally liable for deception when escorted by an adult guardian. Doesn’t matter even if his parents arranged for him to immigrate to UK for a better life. What parent wouldn’t under those circumstances in Somalia?
His case is in spirit little different from dreamers in the US. Whatever legal wrong happened long back isn’t their fault. The difference is Mo actually is a UK citizen and there is zero chance they will strip a national hero that has been knighted off his citizenship.
Funny how Mo never had any problem working for an American company that exploird Third World children as virtual.slave labor. Nor do the scum calling me a racist give an f about how their cheater shies are produced so long as they are affordabl and shave 5 seconds off their 16:45 5K pbs.
A whole new level of whataboutery!
I don't wear Nike shoes and don't have a 16:45 5k pb (I'm slower than that these days) but your contributions on this thread very clearly mark you out as racist.

Definitely difficult to label somebody a racist who you’ve never met or with whom you’ve never had a true conversation. However, I’m amazed by the general lack of empathy for Farah’s story. Being sent away from your family to live with strangers in a far away country at age 9 is traumatic even if this family treated you kindly, and far worse if they were indifferent or mean spirited. It does not matter if in the end this move saved his life and gave him the opportunity to become a global superstar. That’s all to the good, but unknown to the young Farah who I’m sure was suffering. Think about your nine year old self or your children before throwing shade on Farah. The bottom line is that he is one of many millions of children victimized by civil war, social strife beyond their control every year, most of whom don’t have a good outcome, and even if things “worked out in the end” for him fabulously, he doesn’t owe anybody anything. He doesn’t need to shoulder the burden for speaking out against Nike more than anybody else, maybe less. We, however, owe him some empathy.
