My comment that "Jan 6 is still happening" is referring to the continuation of anti-democratic means to achieve anti-democratic objectives - which is what Jan 6 was all about. The accompanying violence will likely come again.

Your other comment, about Justice Kavanaugh - which isn't really related to Jan 6 - is yet another demonstration of the violence that is such a prevalent and long-standing theme in American culture.

I think the riots are really a distraction from the real issue. The Dems current poor performance in office is also a distraction.

The real issue is that we held a Presidential election and one of the candidates won. It seems increasingly clear that most of the people around Trump, even his supporters, believed that Trump lost. The Trump team has had 18 months to come up with specific, concrete evidence that the election was "stolen" but still has nothing that could hold up in court with either R or D judges.

Trump lost the popular vote by 7 million! That is more than the total population of most states. How is it that fraud that would have been perpetuated on such a massive scale has never been revealed?

I dislike Biden and I never wanted him to run in the first place. But we have to honor the results of the election or we don't have a democracy. I believe Trump knows he lost the election but he can never admit it now or his entire movement would collapse. I don't think anyone will change their mind on this from the hearings. People are locked into their positions by now but as a country I'm not sure how we ever go back to anything resembling unity on any issue.

Very few minds will be changed by the fact that 70% of Democrats (about 11% of Americans) are just so far gone that they can't believe that the election was indeed stolen. Nothing will change their minds.

Did the George Floyd rioters attack our capital with the purpose of stopping a legal election so that, destroying our democracy and allowing a coup for Trump to remain in power?

Its not a question of which was more violent, it was an issue about destroying the democratic process. The Trump attack was a threat to our system of government, the Floyd rioters were not.

147 Republicans in the House voted to overturn the election results. The 2022 House will be filled with even more Trump loyalists. The 2024 election will be very close again. Ten states have shifted control over elections to partisan (i.e. right wing) election boards. There is a very real chance that the 2024 election will be very close and will be thrown to Trump by Congress or the manipulation of results by Republican election boards.

The Dems had a chance to take action to secure federal elections and keep Republicans from screwing around with things like voter access. The John Lewis Voting Rights Act passed the House and died in the Senate because Manchin and Sinema would not vote to suspend the filibuster.

If these hearings are being put on to get a groundswell of support for the John Lewis Voting Rights Act to try to flip Manchin and Sinema, then it is worth. But it is not. It is just another Dem obsession with Trump that the corporate centrist DNC dems think is gold for fundraising and keeping their Trump hating base motivated.

Further the Republicans running for office who are spreading the message lie to dismantle our democracy are cowards without ethics. They should all be voted out. They are a disgrace. Liz has the most decency and bigger balls than any of the cowardly liars running the party.

Yes riots anywhere are dramatic. We should all want rioters to be arrested and charged. However Jan 6 was apparently incited by Trump in order to try to get his alternate electors accepted. Or perhaps to be able to declare martial law. If Trump tried to overturn an election that he knew was fair, that was a much bigger crime than rioting. That's why there are hearings. That's what democracy is all about, Charlie Brown.

There is no place in the GOP for anyone that does not publicly endorse the big lie... Or at least hide the fact that they all know it is entirely BS.

The the true purpose is to understand how fragile our democracy is and how close we came to having it dismantled.

Now we have to find out if our population is willing and able to open their eyes. The movie don't look up was a perfect metaphor for what is happening. If they looked up they would see the meteorite but the crowd was convinced that liberals were trying to get them to look up so they chanted not to look up so none of them would see the truth.

Even if the rioters succeeded and killed everybody in the building with their bare hands, does that mean we would all have to magically accept Trump as the rightful ruler of the land? Would the military and police automatically be at Trump's command? No, that would be retarded. I may be mistaken, but I think if i started doing that to officers, they might shoot me. Call me crazy. It is just a theory that I have.

What anti-democratic means are still happening? The only anti-Democratic tactics I’m seeing is from the pro-abortion crowd who have gone as far as attempted murder of a Supreme Court justice, spurred by violent rhetoric of democratic politicians. A staffer leaking an upcoming Supreme Court decision and the subsequent encouraging of protests and “taking up arms” by democratic leaders is a direct threat to our democratic process as well.

All of this is an attempt to turn the tides before midterms. Problem is no one really cares about January 6th as long as they’re paying $5 per gallon of gas, $5 for a gallon of milk, $4 for a dozen eggs and can’t find an affordable home to rent, much less buy. With an inevitable red wave on the horizon, what do the Dems do? They resort to political theatrics. Get people to leak Supreme Court documents, air a January 6th hearing on all major networks, go on tirades about the second amendment.

The only problem is Democratic strategists can’t remember one simple quote: “It’s the economy, stupid.” No one cares about the peripheral stuff when their bank account is hurting. Say what you want, but dems are in control of the White House, senate, and congress. Your in power, you get the blame.

Explain to me how governor Brian Kemp got 73.7% of the vote in Georgia primaries when Trump actively pushed David Perdue to run against him on a “Kemp didn’t stop the steal!” platform. Georgia’s SOS also won in a landslide against his competitor who was a trump backed candidate and “stop the steal” advocate.

When you have 15 rounds and there's 1000 people screaming at you the absolute dumbest thing you could do is shoot one of them. It would be suicide.
