I agree. In Tokyo he went through 800 in about 1:52 which is 3:30 pace. He gained two seconds on that pace finishing in 3:28.32, hence his final 800 can not have been much off 1:50.
One can note that if he's going to break the 1500 WR he'll have to average sub 1:50 speed for the whole race.
This was a terrible result. Not for Jakob, but for the sit and kick guys. All it does is confirm to Jakob that he can't leave it to a last lap burn-up. The era of 3:28/3:29 championship races will continue
