My local school has had the 'one entrance' policy for years now. Doors are all automatically locked during school hours with an intercom system for visitors. No fuss, no muss. Hasn't affected anyone's use of the outdoor track, either.

Boarding school is the answer. Drop your kid off at beginning of term. Kid and all personal belongings are screened before entry into compound. Compound is locked for duration of term. Pick up kid at end of term.

Here (FL) the elementary schools since covid have not had access to any part of the school...even the admin office which is where a visitor used to go first and, if there was some sort of access to the rest of the campus (fairly rare) provided it would be escorted by school personnel. Today, if you want your kid out early, you ask for the kid through the intercom and said child is released out the door with no contact. These schools are completely fenced although it would be easy to stand outside with an AR-15 and pick kids and teachers off during their gym/recess hours.
There's more access to the admin offices of the High Schools and, likely, to the rest of the campus. The setup of the schools here does not allow for one entrance only.

The issue is that the gun control group are intellectual inbreeds who can only parrot one thing: "Gun control". Any other suggestion or solution doesn't matter because they're thinking is so simple minded that they can't even consider it. Ironically, the solution they choose to harp on is the exact solution they'll never get since gun ownership is a constitutionally protected right in the US and they don't have the votes.
It makes it painfully obvious that they do not care to try to do anything to save the lives of children, they simply want to take advantage of the headlines to continue their singleminded push. What is even more sad is that they try to lecture others about using kids deaths for political points when it is obvious that is what they are doing. If they had any care about saving children from gun violence, they would recognize that they're not getting gun control and should be willing to consider other options, such as single entry schools with multiple exits. Chuck Schumer tried to mock the idea when he said the fire marshall would have a problem with this idea. He's either completely stupid or intentionally disingenuous and im not sure which is worse.

Are these people trolling? One entrance? What happens if there's a fire? What if a shooter gets through that one entrance and everyone is trapped inside
I don't think having only one entrance is the answer, but just want to point out you can theoretically have one entrance and still have multiple exits.
