Great run. His technique looks so much better than any of the others from that race (except one, sorry I do not know any names).
I wonder, though, what are the odds that this will remain his PB forever, that he will never again run this fast?
He is already quite strong. He can not be stronger without gaining more muscle. More muscle means more weight to move around. What if he's akready at perfect balance, with his technique already set?
Fact: This phenomenally gifted young man has, to date, garnered far less attention or mentions on this forum than Matthew Boling, who has a few years on him. ¿Por qué?

Yeah his form looked outstanding.
But consider that Dolt was more muscled then Knighton, and in part because of that had a better 100–and still didn’t fatigue terribly in the 200. Flake was even more extreme, the guy was/is huge, and has run the 200m faster than Dolt, excluding RT.
This is another of this year’s shocking early times, we now wait for confirmation. I did a thread years ago on how the best 200’s are usually run by guys when they are younger. He is sure striking while the iron is hot—still svelte, but with quick neurology, and that teenage fatigue resistance. Excellent 200m qualities.
Will he get 19.19? I do not put it past him. Heck, Flake would already have done it, had he not fallen asleep in the blocks.
Even if this clocking was wrong, we have what, a 19.6/19.65 run? Tremendous. DeGrasse must be glad the OG were last year😁

A garbage post, from a garbage poster.
Thanks. I'll wear it as a badge of honour, coming from you. Run along, now.
But yeah, I get your point about optimum balance at the moment.
As he ages he will change physiologically, maybe in 5 years he will exhibit a new, even better balance.
Wow, a real 200 threat. I honestly thought it would take him until next year to uncork a big time. I thought that we would see 19.6x this year based on his excellent earlier 100’s, which are now as fast as Lyles’, and just maybe once a 19.5x, as Lyles has done, if he got lucky.
But 19.4x I didn’t see coming. IN APRIL😮
Like other April phenoms, we now wait for confirmation. How the heck could he maintain this level through a season? If he can, IMO the WR will fall—but it is a long season. This makes me think of Dolt’s WR late on that rainy night in NYC, with all the delays. There was magic in the air that night, a special feeling. Maybe Knighton will experience the same thing.
lol at all these distance runners here thinking 19.49 and 19.19 are close to each other.
"wow, world record is in trouble next year!"
those times are worlds apart.
i swear distance runners no concept of sprinting.
Look at Michael Johnson's two best times. 19.66 and 19.32. If his training goes well and he catches a flyer under the right conditions, anything is possible.

Just a nudda Bolt.
you are comparing to Bolt's progression. Is Knighton Bolt?

According to your logic will Boiling be running 19.30 3 years post his 19.9? (so by 2025?)
Just because Bolt progressed that way DOES NOT mean boling or KNIGHTON will follow the same trend
19.19 is another universe away from 19.49. I can tell most people here are puny distance runners with 25 second 200m PRs
Boling is just sitting back, reading this thread with a huge grin on his face from ear to ear, thinking, "Good job, kid. But you haven't seen the maestro go to work yet."

One reason is that he does all of his talking on the track. No special U of Ga coaches vs. football player relays blowing up on the internet. When Erriyon Knighton was spotted by a track/football coach three years ago, he hadn't run track at all. He just turned 18 in January. He is just phenomenally talented. The curve right now is not indicating an athlete close to his peak. His turn was incredible--and it seems to me that he either tired a bit or took it a little easier toward the end of that race. There is more to come this year, I am convinced.
Cookie Gilchrist was a 250 pound fullback way back when, he went straight from high school to the CFL, he starred there playing both ways. Then when the AFL came into existence he became a Buffalo Bill, first AFLer to have a 1000 yard season.
Look at what these non NCAA cats are doing at 200m in Knighton, Lyles, Bednarek. Of course Bolt and Blake had no NCAA and neither did Mo Greene.
Winning is almost guaranteed for this athlete right now.===========================================*Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright A...
