Yes, you can set privacy zones around specific locations (with some random offcentering so the radius isn't exactly from the location), or clip off a certain distance from the start and end of every activity.
I don’t quite get the problem. Strava just records run times and heart rate and a few other statistics right? It doesn’t share personal medical information or anything like that, so why would she have privacy concerns?
I mean, if she doesn’t want people judging her if she has an off day, that would make sense. But I don’t know if that qualifies as a privacy concern.
If someone wants to find out where you live, all they need to do is pull up the county's cadastre and search your name to find any property you own. It might take a whopping 30 seconds to find the correct website and then type the person's name in.
She doesn't want people knowing where she lives, runs or trains. I doubt she runs alone, but still. Do you really think she wants psycho stalkers learning her patterns and showing up when she's out for a run? Of course not. Fame sucks and it forces you to lives in ways you wouldn't otherwise. It also forces you to assume the worst could happen and prepare for it, since violent and disturbed psychopaths gravitate in that direction. Molly is being 100% reasonable and honestly, if I was her, I probably wouldn't post any runs publicly. Her fans are lucky she posts any.
The only people that can see my Strava, or any social media, are actual friends I know in real life. I don't know why anyone would not lock down SM to their real life friends.

You are right that you dont get it. Sadly that didnt stop you from sparing your toughts.
Strava's privacy feature might be good enough in a dense city, but it would be very easy to triangulate in a suburb/rural area if you do a variety of runs. Sort of like how they can figure out where criminals live from their activity.
Also, it's not like she made a big deal about this — someone asked about it in an interview and she answered. I don't know how you can get bent out of shape about that.
alright which one of you 120lb twerps was this. Leave sweet Mollycakes alone and lets meet up at my location instead. Better bring your super shoes too, because a real man will put you in your place in hand-to-hand combat. Defeat or retreat will be your only options.
Strava has started giving two little lines on the profile badges of pro athletes, so you think that privilege would come with enhanced security features like totally hiding maps. The security features only apply to starting and ending a run, so if you swing by home to grab water that's null. The non-creepers are just curious about her training and the commentary/sass.
her training is still on Strava and visible to everyone. Maybe there’s a nuance like she started hiding the exact starting point of her runs when she runs from home - which is a feature on Strava. I wish the Letsrun writers would check Strava more when doing previews or analysis. It’s an easy way to see exactly how someone’s training has been going and is very easy to look. For example I don’t need to check a letsrun article to see that Colin Bennie and CJ Albertson are in sick shape since it’s already on Strava and that info is more helpful than a couple written words. However if the Letsrun analysis was augmented with that data it could be much more interesting.
Brojos, let me know if you want to pay me a small amount to creep on pro runners’ Strava’s for you!
I can guarantee 100% that no one outside of this forum knows who molly siedel is. I don't know who she is. The reason she is getting stalked is because she is female and creepy men are thirsty for her.

You not knowing who Molly Seidel is says more about you than about her
If you watch the interview that this whole thread stems from, what Molly said was a response to a question about her training not being available for a weekend. ONE weekend. Her response was that she was having some hip issues AND dealing with some privacy concerns that she had been working out with Strava.

Never underestimate the degree to which LRC's incel mob can become enraged at literally anything a woman might do, no matter how innocuous.
