Personal attacks I see. You know your argument is weak if you believe you must attack me personally. Do you know you have been brainwashed or do you believe you just happen to agree with television personalities on major news tv shows?
If Russian generals did not adapt to conditions on the ground, you would post that Russian generals are too rigid and inflexible. Russian generals are doing what I said was Plan B over five weeks ago if Ukraine did not surrender: artillery fire and bombing missions.
Poster, while you're arguing with me, have you come up with a plan for Ukraine to defeat Russia? I don't like seeing Ukrainians dying but you do know, Russia will smash Ukraine one map grid at a time until Ukraine surrenders.
Since Ukraine/N.A.T.O./U.S. are not smashing Russia one map grid at a time, are you not Whistling Past the Graveyard?
This is a thread about tanks poster. Would you rather be a rifleman &/or a machine gunner infantryman running around Ukraine or would you prefer to be in a mechanized unit?
First of all, who told that about personal attacks? They lied to you, Muffin. Insults and personal attack fortify an already strong argument.
Second of all, fleeing from a city you were desperate to occupy is a defeat. The Russian retreat from the Kyiv area all the way to Belarus will go down in the history of military embarrassments as one of the biggest. Whoever told you it wasn't a huge, embarrassing defeat for Russia, was also lying to you.
Third of all, and for the third time, who are you to second guess a person's desire to defend their country from an invading force that is trying to kill their children? The Ukrainians don't want to surrender to Russian murderers whether Zelenskyy tells them to or not. Just because you wouldn't defend your country against difficult odds, doesn't mean everyone else would make that choice. You should show some respect for the difficult decisions that Ukrainians have made to fight back against criminal foreign invaders.

I wish I could give your post more than 1 up vote. That was a good post and from the way I read it very heartfelt. I don't say this very often but keep posting.
Boris? Muffin? Those terms enhance? When you go to court and fight a traffic citation pro se, if you insult law enforcement who wrote citation or if you insult prosecutor, you have no argument and judge will tell you to your face you lose automatically. Wise people tune out those who lead with insults. I won't read a word you say after an insult.
In the 1960s the USA had more than twice the population of Vietnam.
In the 1970s the Arab nations had more than twice the population of Israel.
In the 1980s the USSR had more than twice the population of Afghanistan.
In the 1990s Serbia had more than twice the population of Croatia.
How did those wars end?
But perhaps the greatest underdog victory in history goes to Cuba. On 27 November 1956 a boat carrying 82 revolutionaries landed in Cuba. By 2 January 1959 they controlled the whole country, with a population of over 6.5 million.
Number of people mostly counts in total wars. All mentioned were/ are limited wars. Still, most of mentioned were finished when one side could not deploy more people.
- Russia , by this moment, deployed less than 200K personnel to fight +400K Ukrainian army.
- How many people from USA could be deployed to Vietnam? Do not forget China and USSR.
- Israel vs. Arabs, it is not fair not to mention USA and other allies on Israeli side .
- Afghanistan, USSR deployed just a fraction of army. They went there to help existing government, not to occupy the country.
- Serbia did not attack Croatia, only volunteers helping rebel territories populated by Serbs. Serbia did not even have an Army, at the time. Yugoslav federal army, in limited capacity fought for preservation of federal state. Croatia outnumbered them all by a lot. Also, USA and NATO outnumber all of them together.
Yes, I know you're right. I was just a little pizzed off and felt like venting. However I'l not take back a word I said. Long walk/short pier.Thank you very much and good night and I hope some Russians get some bombs dropped on their homes. Why? Just because. The Russians are dropping bombs on Ukraine homes, hopefully the Ukraine Air Force will sometime soon be able to pay Russia a visit. Remember Mariupol? What if the Ukraine could do to the same thing to the Kremlin? It's my deepest wish and desire that Ukraine could pull this off, but it's something like 500 miles or so from Kiev. So sending ground forces wouldn't be practical, unless they were willing to sacrifice their air forces. And as of today they are being very careful with their aircraft. The Russians started this war with a 10/1 advantage. Where it stands today I can't speak to.
Encore. Grassrunner, you started this. I can't stop.
I haven't watched CNN in weeks. Four and five weeks ago CNN thought it was so cool to tell the world, 20-something hip chicks, 40 year old housewives and 65 year old grandmas were making I.E.D.s. I.E.D.s meant to kill and disable Russians. Russians treat everyone in Ukraine as either a uniformed armed combatant or a guerilla armed combatant. If I turn on CNN today, are there still features on the lady I.E.D. bomb makers?
In regard to the deaths, I want the dying to stop. One man can stop the dying, President Zelenskyy. You know Putin is not going to surrender to Zelenskyy.
Instead of crying about how awful military combat is, tell your Congressperson to cut off military aid to Ukraine.
You're kidding, right? Do you really think that if Zelenskyy surrenders and gives in to Putin's demands that a criminal like Putin is going to stop the killing? Only stopping Putin can stop the dying.
A videotape made days before that, shows a live scene of Russian POWs in Vilkhivka near Kharkiv—also bound—being shot, maimed, some apparently killed by soldiers with Ukrainian insignia. “The actions depicted would be considered war crimes under the Geneva Conventions,” one expert was quoted.
But the latter war crime tape was all but completely ignored in U.S. and European media . . .
Bullsh*t. That story ran on the front page of the Web version of the NY Times. Enough with the lies, already.
Russia, weeks ago gave Ukraine an opportunity to surrender to men in mechanized units and Russian infantrymen. U.S., acting as real time Forward Observers for Ukrainian military and the number of weapons given to Ukraine, it is sound tactics by Russian military to soften up the battlefield with navy battleship guns, artillery and bombing missions. Russia is doing text book tactics which are sound and reasonable from Russian perspective.
You do believe in preserving life don't you poster? That actor/clown/comedian, President Zelenskyy should surrender. You do want to save Ukrainian lives, don't you?
I never read the textbook that said dig trenches in a radioactive forest and get radiation poisoning. Could you send me a copy? Maybe turning their own soldiers into nuclear weapons is sound and reasonable from Russian perspective.
Do you not believe in preserving life? And, if you do, then why shouldn't the autocrat / psychopath / moron Tsar Putin surrender? You do want to save Russian lives, don't you?
Not to mention the auto eject system that sometimes dosent work and the casing flies around the turret de-capitating the crew.
This is absolutely not true. If you knew anything about the ejection system you would realize that this cannot happen. I have served on vehicles with a similar system and it is impossible for the casing to eject into the vehicle. The biggest problem we had with the ejection system was if a misfire occurred. In an Abrams, it is easy to clear. Not an easy task when you don't have a loader.
The casing does not "fly out" either; it falls out onto the floor of an Abrams. With an ejection system, it is expelled from rear of the turret. It if flew out of the breech, our Abrams crews would be at risk.

The US military hasn't fought anything resembling a modern army since a least the 1950s.
Iraq in 1990 was a modern army. This is total misinformation. The republican guard had t72s.
You have no idea what you are talking about.
The bulk of Iraq's tank forces were T-55's and T-62's from the 1950's and 60's. Yes the Republican guard had T72's but T72's are not even remotely in the same league as M1A1's...
We had laser guided bombs dropped from stealth aircraft and they were still using Mig 21's from the 1950's.
The US military hasn't fought anything resembling a modern army since a least the 1950s.
That's not entirely true. We have fought something resembling modern armies. Iraq twice. They had the latest and greatest of Russian weapons. And we dispatched them in short order. Saddam parked his Mig fighter aircraft next to mosques hoping we'd destroy them along with the mosque to get the muslim world up are azz. What did we do? We took the explosives out of our bombs and replaced it with several hundred pounds of concrete. We had a new way of guiding dumb bombs to be smart bombs by attaching a GPS guided tail onto them, their name was JDAM's. So we found the Migs and smashed them to pieces while the Muslims were doing their morning prayers. No collateral damage was done to people or property. But Saddam lost most of his Migs that day. Saddam was a great chess player too. Yea ha ha!!!
Iraq definitely did not have the most advanced Russian weapons. They were at least 2 generations behind.
Wise people tune out those who lead with insults. I won't read a word you say after an insult.
I lay out a detailed plan for how you can become a better human being and you refuse to accept it because I called you a muffin? Jesus Christ. That's just passive-aggressive behavior to the point of self-harm. No wonder you are all Captain Surrender here. I take it the concept of having any "balls" is unknown in your country? Good grief, man. Sheesh.

Don’t worry about getting insults from all those people who were extinguished.
People are dying and you’re getting worked up over insults for supporting their murderers.

Russian tanks have an autoloader... They also use 2 piece ammunition like an artillery piece so misfires don't happen.
There's also no casing. They have an aft cap like the Abrams but there's no ignition rod on it so it's smaller. It isn't possible for it to fly around the turret let alone fly around with enough energy to decapitate anyone. It remains in the feed mechanism and the TC has to manually remove it.

It’s strange how the Russians are also using equipment 2 generations behind in this meaningless invasion.

One wonders why they aren't using their air force and their t-90's are a rare sight.
Probably because more than 10% of their Ka-52 attack helicopters have been shot down and the majority of their tanks haven't been maintained well enough to be combat ready due to rampant corruption in the Russian military.
