I think you will see this happen as soon as tomorrow morning
About 15 years ago, Temple’s John Cheney was suspended for the rest of the season after sending in a ‘goon’ (his words), to hard foul a St. Joe’s player. It is understood that the University let him come back for the next season if he agreed it would be his last. Cheney was a HOF coach and may have deserved the opportunity to retire.
Howard is a crappy coach — my guess is he would be gone at the end of the season anyway.
Howard was Big Ten Coach of the Year last season. How is that crappy?
Are we just going to ignore Gard grabbing him after Howard was ignoring him. Howard repeatedly told him "Don't f****** touch me". Gard didn't listen or stop. Then the Wisconsin assistant grabs a Michigan player and Howard struck him with an open hand that was a glancing blow.
Gard, Howard and the Wisconsin assistant all need to be suspended for several games.
We? Different people have different feelings and opinions.
Well, what are your thoughts on Few then? DUI deserves far more than 1 game IMO.
In case you missed it, this has been answered:
There’s a difference between on and off the court behavior in terms of how it’s punished. If Mark Few showed up drunk to the game and made a scene, he’d have been fired instantly.
Until a few years ago, off the court behavior was barely considered in sports. In general, for all jobs, conduct while on the job is judged more harshly than what you do off of it.
Agreed especially a guy who never put his hands on you. Regardless of how people are trying to spin this Howard looks like an unhinged idiot. Makes sense two of his players threw punches as well....
This video also does a great job of showing just how completing inept the police and Big 10 officials (dark shirts) are at controlling these types of things.
The timeout was a dick move by the Wisconsin coach and Howard was right to be angry about it but should not have thrown the punch. I would like to know what the coach said to Howard.
If the timeout was a dick move then so was pressing by Michigan. Neither should cause a coach to throw a punch...and you idiots playing semantics with what happened can gfy.
One of those stupid "unwritten rules" deals, then. So annoying.

Few was arrested for the DUI DURING the NCAA recruiting contact period. It's reasonable to think of him as 'on the job' 24/7 during those parts of the year.

No it’s really not. If he were driving recruits home, then sure. But he wasn’t. You mught as well say a coach is on the job 24/7 during the season too with that logic. Clearly when cameras are on you and you are at a game as a coach, you’re on the job. Driving home from a bar after drinking, you’re just being dumb.

The ncaa needs to have consistent rules and coaches contracts need to have outs for specific bad behavior. UMs first reaction was to defer to the big ten, that’s a great way to hide from making tough decisions. Maybe automatic one year suspension for hitting, DUI
im sure UM didn’t want to get stuck firing him and having to pay two coaches salaries. they would probably have to drop a sport like swimming or cross country
Yeah I didn't watch the extended video until today which shows the 20 or so seconds after the slap/punch/scratch from Howard where he gets pushed back away from the melee by what looks to be an assistant he goes full "south side Chicago mode" trying to bullrush the pile again, doing the classic "hold me back cuz" charade like a f-ing pyscho. It actually reminded me of Isaiah Stewarts big act vs Lebron and the Lakers - except he's also 20 years old and not a 49 year old coach and alleged role model of college aged kids. Totally embarrassing and I'm not sure how any player is supposed to take him seriously moving forwards when it comes to basic "discipline" "emotions in check" etc
So just read it looks like he's been suspended the rest of the season. Honestly Michigan? Weak and spineless. Reeks of privilege - however you want to interpret that be my guest.

Posters saying Howard went all South Side are saying you can take the boy out of the hood but you can't take the hood out of the boy. Which is bs, Howard's been around a long time he's the freaking coach and should be setting the example for all the kids just getting out of the south side.
