Do you understand how anonymous sites work? Does it matter which of the many guys who meet the criteria are a specific son? They are all sons of anonymous posters. Here are a few interesting ones from 2021 which show that Mu should be able to run a good mile with a 49 400.
Lester ran 49/4:06
Witt 50/4:04
Harrison 50/4:08
English 47/4:19
Mederios 48/4:19
Austin 47/4:18
Flatt 48/4:18
Leach 48/4:18
I have no idea who those people are, but the relevant piece is their 800 times. Of course a 49/150 guy who is a 400/800 runner can be expected to run a helluva lot faster for a mile than a 49/155 guy/girl who is a 400/800 runner.
Yup

800 times are relevant to how strength will carry up to the mile. For extreme examples, think Miller-Uibo or Felix
Their line would probably look something like
48/5:12
49/5:07
I mean, I really have no idea, but you get the point.
somebody with a 49/1:50 is going to have a better mile/1500 then somebody with a 49/ 1:55
assuming in an honest effort has been given in all distances.
oh gosh. i was a few minutes late with my post. didn't mean to copy cat!
I see we're all in full agreement here that Athing will run a fantastic mile when she runs around ~1:50 in the 800m.
Great discussion folks! Glad to get a productive once in here.

Don't really understand the reasoning behind her entering the mile. She's been doing all the right things and it was working out great for her - running a 1:54 last summer was within reach.
Training for the mile will definitely kill some of her raw speed and worsen her chances in achieving big things in the 400m. As for the mile, she would have to improve A LOT to become a major international player.
Did I miss where it said she is training for the mile? Im sure she is still training as an 800 runner but nothing wrong with stepping up in distance early in the season. If she runs the 1500 at USAs this summer then it is fair to ask some questions.
Tell me, what happens to the sprinter type 800m runner, who enters a mile race unprepared?
Of course she has trained for the mile, otherwise she would hit the wall after 1000m. I think it's a mistake, as such training will certainly come at the price of 400m speed. This would be like Murphy or Brazier running 3000m in a prestigious meet for training purposes - odd...
It is great that Mu is running this race. More athletes should compete in events outside their comfort zone just to mix things up and entertain fans. It would be awesome, say, to see a bunch of 1500/5000 guys race an 800. Still holding out for Karsten Warholm vs Jakob Ingebrigtsen in a 600m duel. Alas, thus far my entreaties have fallen on ice cold Norwegian ears.
4:24.24
She might break 4:20

St. Pierre, KK and Hall are on another level and will be racing each other; however I fully expect Mu to be in that mid-4:20s second group.
I still wonder why we don't get a Mu - Wilson duel in the 800m. But I 'd find it also strange if she ran the mile race with the prospect of 4:29 and 10th place. This will certainly be paced for ca. 2:10 809 m or faster and Klosterhalfen and/or Hull will keep the pace up towards final times around 4:20, so this is not going to be a 4:25-29 sit and kick race. So I'd also expect Mu to run a bit faster than barely sub 4:20
At this point, I don't think the Americans provide Mu with any challenge over 800. Sure, she'll still contest the event, make the U.S. team and win gold in Eugene. But in an event like this, she'd rather actually have women to race with.
Would be great to see an American sweep.

Totally agree. I AM the type that thinks a world class 400 time probably means not a world class miler - But I find it really refreshing that Athing herself doesn't seem to put herself in that 4/8 box. She wants to be good at everything she can.
PS I would not have told that guy to post his actual son's profile if he did not post "My son did ______" and then posted someone else's son as evidence - which I think is far worse.
I don't think Mr. Schweizer would be very happy about that.
going through 800m in 2:08 or so will feel like a jog for her in the mile, if she is in range with a lap to go she can and will run fast. she has proven to be a savvy racer. plus she will have Elle and Koko to test her limits in the Mile where noone will do that in the 800m.
She found out where she is in the 4:37 a few weeks ago and she knows she had a lot more than the time showed so she decided to run in a fast race.
4:26:38

I would be surprised if she runs below 4.30. To improve 7 secs is a lot of distance over that event.
Pro race. Very fast. The train is going to set a strong time and even the caboose is going to get dragged along for the ride.
So this info below wasn't okay? We can't post meet results now? I thought that was the whole point of this site.

This is an anonymous site. The poster made it clear that it wasn't his intention. How often do we get people apologizing and admitting an error? It should be commended.
There was no one near her when she ran 4:37. She was actually lapping people.

I'm looking forward to this. Lot of slow @ss neckbeards calling Athing Mu lazy, slow, etc. I hope she crushes it.
I dare you to show me one person calling her lazy or slow.
She's going to win this race. If she doesn't, she'll still be top-5.
She's lazy.
