"Most" people in the US have not had COVID. Not even close. I am seeing 65.5M.
I have not had COVID and have not been much of a hermit. I would chalk my not getting it to some part of each:
1) 2x vaxxed and boosted
2) The people I know who have had it quarantining themselves and not interacting until they are cleared.
3) Generally being healthy and not having conditions that increase my risk,
4) A little luck, I have flown a dozen flights in the past year for instance. So yeah, some luck.

And 66M would be 20% of 330M. But I think we can agree that many more have been infected without having been tested/reported. The estimates I've been seeing are for about half the U.S. population.

Was heavily exposed early on, spending a couple hrs w/ a friend who felt bad, had sniffles, and a few hrs later a high temp. We sat 1-2 ft apart working on something together, laughing, drinking wine, passing a USB gizmo back and forth as I helped him w/ something on his computer. He kept feeling worse over those 2 hrs, and 1 hr after he left he had a 103˚ fever and tested positive for Covid the next morning. I actually hoped I'd get it to get it over with and get natural immunity, but never had the slightest symptom. And since then I've taken no precautions anywhere. Maskless pretty much at all times in stores and at events, don't wash my hands after I've been out, blah, blah, blah. The logical conclusion is obviously that I'm Superman ;-)

Answer is yes, especially if you suspect it already.
I consider myself lucky. I am vaccinated, but I do go out without a mask, and I work as registration for an ER at a critical access hospital. I come face to face with covid patients daily.
Who knows though, maybe I'm one of those super rare non-symptomatic individuals who had it and didn't know.
I would say if you spend plenty of time outdoors, especially in sunshine, you will be less inclined to contract it. Being vaccinated helps a bit too.
This may have been true a year ago but I would be willing to bet more half of the US has knowingly or unknowingly had COVID at this point.
I assume they are lying.

I know plenty of people who haven't had it who go out a lot. They all are vaccinated with a booster, wear a mask pretty much everywhere, (and choose an N95 mask in dense indoor spaces) and they opt for outdoor social events more often than they used to.
