The coverage was fine and much improved from the last time. Although I applaud Hanson’s for putting their money where their mouth is, I cannot help but think this was a total waste of money. Zero spectators, poor competition. They would have just been better off writing a $50k check to the cash strapped BTC.

I’m not sure this country is an ekiden type of country on many levels.

Guess you’ve got to give it a go though.

#LosAngeles2028 should have Ekis and Crosses

Generally awesome stuff. People can say it was just BTC kicking the crap out of smaller teams, but I think them showing up is great for the sport. Today was a demolition job, but by the BTC racing (and racing with nearly the strongest eligible team) hopefully shows other big groups that they can and should show up too. BTC were strong but didn't look invincible. Maybe NB can get their act together and actually sponsor some men, so NB Boston can go head to head. How cool would it have been to see Elle Purrier try chase down Elise Cranny in that 10km leg? Maybe Team Boss can team up with a men's group for a one off all star team? BTC is walking away with tens of thousands in extra $$, hopefully someone can try steal a buck or two more next year.

And they didn't have it all their way! BTC get accused of hiding and not wanting to put themselves in vulnerable, non-controlled non-time trial situations. Glad they showed up today, because Anne Frisbie can tell her grandkids about the time she absolutely dropped the hammer on an Olympic Silver medalist in a road race and gapped her by 15s. Those kind of underdog performances shining through are much harder to get come track season, so it was fun seeing that today.

(To the posters saying "I can go to the movies" or "spotify costs X" or whatever clearly do not understand how scale features into economics... no kidding multibillion dollar mega corps like Apple and Amazon can offer a better product for less money than the three dudes in a shed that put together runnerspace. Why you so mad about it?)

Yes, another day and time would have been better for fan support.

Must have been logistical reasons.

Perhaps next year will be different.

Hats off to Hanson’s for doing what they do for USA distance running.

Last year’s race was free and I watched.

This year’s race cost money and I didn’t watch.

My husband just pointed out that this event had more US Olympians than Chicago or NY or Boston did this year.
