They buy the super expensive stuff from brands I don't even know.
It depends if they're new money or old money, and slim or oddly shaped.
Old money tend towards well worn clothes these and the odd thrift store buy, interspersed with designer items but from a really unflashy brand. Possibly worn with a home made item or a hand down. I have a handmade pair of gloves and scarf made by a family member and I also have a handmade dress, but made by a tailor. It's old though.
New money tends towards big name brands and high fashion items.
As a standard sized slim women, I can order clothes online and be pretty certain they will fit just by looking at photos. I have a lot of items from ted baker but they don't last well so sometimes I buy a few items at lunchtime from the same store or online as explained above. I have 7 pairs of ted baker shoes all of the saame style in slightly different colours. I have some second hand items and I'm not even sure why. I just ordered them online and they fit so well and are so hard wearing that they have become favourites. I have a huge range of dark blue jumpers, otherwise everything is black, dark grey or white, other than summer dresses.

There are different kinds of "wealthy" folks. Take my dad. Moved to the US in the 1960s. Started out as a truck driver. Now has a fleet of 100+ trucks stationed across multiple locations in the state. Still buys wrangler jeans and polo shirts from Wal-Mart.
I'm not as wealthy as my dad (yet), but I get most of my clothes custom made. It is less expensive than buying Burberry or Gucci or Versace; but fits and feels way better.
where do wealthy people buy clothes? wrote:
You obviously have to dress respectably at least to have a job or profession where you do really well. Where do the wealthy buy clothes assuming they don’t have a personal shopper? I hear the stories of “ oh Warren Buffett buys clothes at Walmart”
No way. Walk into a Walmart or Target and it’s only weird old guys with white tube socks and sandals or fat pre teens shopping for clothes. These wealthy cats that have real jobs have nice wardrobes. They don’t have time to roam the clearance racks at Marshall’s or TJ Maxx. So what gives? Ever seen a closet of a NBA player? No frugality there. I remember a story about Shaq dropping $50,000 at a Walmart once.
As a wealthy industrialist, philanthropist, and bicyclist, I buy my clothes at McDonald’s. Delicious to meet you, mmm Mombasa?
The wealthy people I know love shopping at Marshall's. They love finding big name clothes at cheap prices. It gets my well off female friends a thrill, that is the ones who earn their own money and didn't marry it.
