All time low even for Let’s Run! Athlete falls on barrier and you kick her when she’s down! At least Courtney brought home the Silver!

Her PR is only 1.5 s slower than Frerichs. She's got a bronze from Rio, a gold from London WC and a silver from Doha WC. It's not crazy to pay her a lot of attention. Frerichs had no global medals before this.
Frerichs won world silver in 2017 mang.
Frerichs broke open the Doha race which helped Emma to gold.
Because prior to this race she medaled in the last 3 global championships ...

She Bilesd. A teammate was outperforming her, so she mentally checked out. What I don't understand, though, she was DQ'd for stepping over the rail?
What about Woody in the 5K? What about Chelimo putting his arm around Kitar? Both DQ's there.
Coburn won World gold in the steeple, multiple American titles, and has been the most consistent American steepler in the Diamond League and with many sub 9:10s, though just shy of Frerichs' record.

I am disappointed in her.
Giving your maximum effort, should be a requirement for representing your country in the Olympics
Jesus Christ. Coburn is a 3 time medalist on the world stage with a ton of US titles. Clearly she had an off day. You dk what's going on with her. Give me a break with sour takes like this. She works as hard as anyone.

It does not hurt Coburn that she is beautiful. She also has a pretty nice personality and has been consistently great (at least by American standards) for a very long time.
"pREtty NiCE PersONliTY" by what standards?

LOL the only thing she has going for her is that she's relatively pretty. Anyone who thinks she has a "pretty nice personality" should watch an interview with her.

Why again does she get all the attention when Frerichs is the actual American record holder?
Because one good run does not make a career. Coburn owns 13 of the 16 fastest times in US history, along with WC gold, WC silver, and Olympic bronze. Frerichs still has a long way to go to match Coburn, even with her silver today.
American record holder and now Olympic silver medalist. both of those top EC's accomplishments. She certainly doesn't have a long way to go to match Coburn, she's surpassed her.

She said her body shut down halfway through. She wouldn't be the first American who has been caught out by conditions in Tokyo. The lack of a holding camp has really hurt some athletes
Stop with the excuses. OMG, no camp, how horrible!
Everyone knew the Olympics were being held in Tokyo for the past 5 years, plenty of time to plan time in heat and humidity. That is no excuse.
How is it an excuse? Every country would usually have a holding camp, especially when a champs is held in a different climate and different time zone. Adjusting is difficult even if you're not an athlete looking to perform at your peak. The lack of international competition hasn't helped either, with many US athletes either not used to travelling to compete or at least out of the groove. Trayvon Bromell pinpointed this.
a hot take from someone sitting at home.
"Bilesd" it? If they have a poor performance, it's just part of the journey. Their bad days are broadcast though. You have the luxury of no one caring about your bad days.
I’m ashamed of myself for reading these awful comments. Coburn is a champion who had a bad day. Many of you are just nattering nebobs of negativism. (Look it up).

This thread is a prime representation of what this forum is becoming. The misogyny and racism and homophobia/transphobia that's allowed on here is getting worse and worse.

There's a difference between a poor performance and checking out. The Japanese dude who was a lap down in the 5K heat the other day finished running, he didn't cruise in at 8 minute pace.
