I just meant she’s winning over the moron that started this thread. I’m a fan too and I’m sure she’s intelligent and humble enough to know she will want some wins in races soon too! Go Jordan!

Sponsors don't actually give a sh!t about times or medals. They care about promoting their brand. Sometimes for an athlete to be a good brand ambassador, they have to simply post strong performances and it doesn't matter if they lack charisma or influence (e.g., Galen Rupp). Other times, athletes can make up for their lack of performance by having a good social media presence, good personality/charisma and the attention of fans. Jordan seems to have a better following/influence than many olympians. Hence she should be paid more.
I have a lot more respect for the fact that her influence seems to come more from the respect people (women and girls especially) have for her as an athlete and person, rather than from her sex appeal like some other athletes (e.g., Maria Sharapova).
I'm a big Jordan fan, but I wouldn't say she has a super engaging social media presence. It's all Michael Jordan inspiration quotes. I'd love to see her share a more personal side other than "here's a picture of me running accompanied by an inspirational quote." I still think she has a long career ahead of her.

Lol misinformation all over. She did not excel at every level she floundered as a pro until Alberto gave her an ultimatum and was about to drop her from the team. Then all of a sudden she's running incredibly at the marathon when she was awful as a pro. Leading up to Chicago she ran something like 32 minutes for a road 10k and she easily beat that in the first 10k for Chicago and held on for 2:20. Uneven performances and injuries all over after that. Who tears a hamstring during a marathon? I doubt that's ever happened before to a pro. To those who say she's cute....y'all haven't seen her in a while Hasay has no idea lotion and sunscreen exist as she looks about 30 years older than her age right now. With all that happened with NOP and her specific situation she's suspect big time.

Not much else to say.
It is not about being pleasant. It is about results if you didn't notice.
Actually, it's not. It's about dollars. More specifically, about NIKE sponsorship dollars. And it remains true that NIKE is probably better positioned to determine the best use of their sponsorship funds than OP.
Nice try, though.

100% right.
Sponsors are going to invest their money into the most marketable athletes. Many times that means the most talented/award-rich athletes. Not always.

This.
I'm surprised you have to point this out. While she was floundering, this place was filled with threads dissecting her latest performance, and explaining with great passion (and in great detail) what she was doing right/wrong, and what she had to do to fix it (or not). Those threads made today's threads about Hocker, or politics or covid seem like nap time at a Canadian Montessori school.
I just can't get on board with all the baggage - sleazy sal, bobblehead, worshipping rapist kobe, the NOP "supplements".

I think she'll also have a long career in Nike/Oiselle PR/marketing/communications (they pay very well too) even after her running days are over.
Being a stud runner is more than just running--it opens doors and gives her networks for jobs. She'll never go hungry or have to worry about job security again. That's as important as qualifying for the Olympics IMO.
I don't get the bobblehead references, but I get the Kobe and others?

Except she isnt an Olympian and wont ever be. That's the facade that she and everyone else continues to live.
I dont understand why NIKE is too scared to pull the plug on her. She is a waste of resources and there are many more deserving elites who should be awarded a carefree lifestyle that allows them to focus on training. The only thing she offers is an instagram account.
What do you want her to do, delete all social media and tell her fans to F-off? I'm pretty sure she is doing the same stuff career wise that she would do if she had no fans. She is living her best life. You sound very jealous and since she is not an Olympian you are using that as a talking point to hate on her. Most pros do not become olympians. She is still a pro and a very special talent at that.

Jordan has been given every advantage known to mankind as far as her running career goes. There have to be at least four dozen women from the past 15 years who with those same advantages would have produced better results.
She is a really great runner. But she isnt an Olympian. The Olympics are important because that is what pushes the continuum of human interest for our sport. Provided she cant seem to make it there after 4 tries I also think it's about time those same opportunities are distributed to other deserving young women to see what results will yield. Otherwise it is what I say it is: a waste of resources on something that wont ever be. Jordan has had her chances.

the sport will be better off without the olympics. pretty good chance the most powerful marathons of the year won't be at the olympics. plenty of drive comes from outside the olympics. the most famous example likely being bannisters 4 min mile. Kastors american record wasnt done in the olympics. have you read up on the history of the boston marathon? do you really think it needs to pretend to be a smaller event than an olympic marathon?

48 American women who could run faster than 2:20 in the marathon and make 3 podiums at World Marathon Majors? Get outta here.
