It is a fact, not surmise, that even in pre-COVID times, there was zero blood-testing for doping done in Ethiopia. Even if there were, you'd have to doubt that Hermens' leading athletes would test positive anyway, what with the doctors he employs.

Why are there about forty posts on this thread already by one person? Gidey was a known up and coming athlete for years now and was terrific at World's, just lacking the speed to challenge Hassan in the end. This performance must have the caveat that it was a road race and so we do not know that the distance or the splits were accurate. She has male pacers/men to run with and maybe draft off of, I don't know, so that in itself would allow a woman to break 29 on the track. She has the cheater shoes, which account for maybe as much as a minute--if they can be three minutes in a marathon, maybe in a 15k, which is well over a third of a marathon, they are at least a minute. That in itself would put this close to the previous best.

She said that she will run faster next time and that it wasn't hard. She looked fantastic at the end. But all that being said, the splits are absurd; the total time is absurd; and the doping is off the charts in Ethiopia and with Hermens' athletes. A lot to lose? He was using an Operation Puerto doctor. "Lucky" for him that they didn't publish the results of the tests. He uses Healing Hans. He gives interviews recommending permitting drugs in competition. He was a blood doper. He's also had the doping doctor Pieter Vergouwen his stable, according to a Swedish article.

Of course, Hermens denies all this:

But look at all the recent positives in Kenya after they started actually testing and publishing some of the results.

Kenya was getting off scot-free and now we can see doping was and is rampant. The same will be seen for Ethiopia eventually. And to those who say how can a poor country cheat where first Worlders can't? Well, Hermens and his doctors insure this.

She was already a sub 30 10k type at World's. Was Hassan really just a low 30s runner there? It was obvious Gidey was much better than that, but this is off the hook--she averaged about 29:33 per 10k here. Only a Chinese doper and two Ethiopians have run faster over 10000m on the track than that pace she sustained for 50% more in this race over 7 hills. All-time #2 and #3 in the 10000m were run at a BARELY better pace than this. #4 all-time, run by a 14:11 5000m runner who still holds the wr for that event, is 9 seconds per 10k slower than this pace. #8 all-time, Defar, ran 14:12 for 5000m.

Weekly reminder that over 1/2 half of athletes at the 2011 World Championships admitted to doping when asked anonymously.

I'll frame this a better way: By running the fastest time ever, she, by definition, has ran faster than every doper ever. You gotta believe that doping don't do sh*t if you can beat every doper in history. This isn't about certain countries. It's about when a runner achieves a certain standard, things stop being believable.

This is just the beginning. Now that super shoes just add to the problem, we’re going to see records fall left and right. Already since super shoes we have new WRs in both men’s and women’s 5 and 10,000m. New indoor men’s NCAA record in the mile (twice broken). And, of course, the new 1500 HS record easily breaking a record by, arguably, the most talented American miler ever.

Let me note that the East African athletes tend to be the best naturally in distances, as do the West Africans tend to be the best sprinters. NATURALLY

And there are a few legit performers that are phenomenal and not so far off the WR.

however, what kills track is the record setting chicks now, all have red flags flying at full mast.

they gotta legalize drugs, and you check your self as either enhanced or natural.

give a metal for each type enhanced and natural.

still test, and publish the data.

that way everybody can play fair.

right now, if i knew for a fact that everyone was doping, and i'm like 5th in the world clean,

and i'm needing to pay my bills with my running, baby food, best i dope and win, rather than be called a choker (get 5th) and starve.

the rule makers at the end of the day are the evil ones, setting it up with choices like these.
