Closed in 63? Nice.
29:01:03
When was the last time any of these athletes had an out of competition drug test? This whole meet is ridiculous.
Letesenbet Gidey 29:01.03 WR 10,000 m at Ethiopian Trials 2021 June 8th
Hassan to Gidey, "Your move."
Gidey, "No problem."
14:18 2nd half!!!

Paced for 3,200m (9:24) if I'm not mistaken.
Lolololololololololololol !!!!!!!!!!
Captain Picard summed it up best:
“Sometimes you just have to bow to the absurd.”
Spoiler Alert:
Getachew ran 1:56.70 to win the women's 800m.
Lemi outkicked a struggling Tefera to win the men's 1500m in 3:31.91. Tefera fell back to third or fourth.
14:18 second half! OMG, that lady, Gidey, can run 28:40-28:55.
Gidey, style wise, more economic and textbook, compared with Hassan, but style is not everything.
I was expecting Gidey to break Hassan's record. I didn't know it would come this quickly. Just outside of being the first to break 29, which will happen soon.
14:18 2nd 5k???
That's absolutely ridiculous. The W5000 was only won in 14:13...
Could've gone sub 29 if she didn't have to overtake 3 backmarkers on the final bend.
Something needs to be done here. Certain nations are just being allowed to dope with impunity. Remember the absurd Chinese records we used to mock a scant decade ago? Now women are closing their 10ks with sub-14:20 5ks. Just so obscenely fraudulent.
Wait.... is this a joke or is this real? A woman has run 29:01?
10,000m is long enough for the shoes to have a strong, strong effect. Even with that being the case, Hassan and Gidey are two all-timers. Hassan has the greatest range in history possibly, and Gidey has the smoothest, most efficient stride I have may have ever seen on the women's side of thing.
Wale beats Mellac (Sp?) in 12:53.28.
A 14:18 would be a top-10 time for 5000m. How the hell is that possible?

The shoes are no doubt having an impact. The 5,000 all-time list has also been historically weak. See three Ethiopians at 14:15 or faster today with Gidey not even in the field, and Tsegay running it somewhat crazily.

Cue Armstronglivs in 3.....2.....1.....
Tsegay wins the 5000m in 14:13.33 just over a younger runner whose name I didn't catch in 14:14.
