LOL - I don't think anything would do the trick... If he ran 3:30 tomorrow, then it would just be more complaints about the shoes, or whether the track was 'too fast', or whether he is on some sort of juice.
The funny thing is that they could be promoting these performances as being driven by the decrease in the knowledge gap when it comes to training athletes. The knowledge gap closing thanks to sites like LetsRun where coaches, athletes, fans can discuss the sport and learn more about the proper ways to approach distance running.
But no it's just spit on the performance because it will drive traffic to a multi page message board thread.
