I'll correct myself. I found the article I remember reading when he passed away.

He had pulled something prior to the Olympic trials. Prior to the injury, he was planning on defending his 100 and 200 titles. BOTH. He recovered in time to show up at the trials, and he STILL tried to do the 100 and 200. He couldn't get out of rounds in the 100, but he still managed to take 4th in the 200.

Most of the articles say he was not fit because he had no time to train before the trials due to the injury. Him showing up at all was probably a minor miracle, let alone still almost making the 200.

His 4th place showing has a lot of virtues to it, but to argue that it showed he was "more of a 200 guy" is NOT one of them.

The sprint records are only coincidental. Most races can do the same if given the same drugs, the same amount of opportunity in the discipline, and the same amount of talented individuals interested in the event. There were a ton of white guys close to 10 many decades ago. Do you really think after all this increase in population,increase in drug use, and perfected drugs and training that there couldn't be 200 white guys under 10 by now?

WHY? Have you ever heard the talk about his training style? Did you see that rail thin body he ran with?

Do you still need to ask "why" when you confront those two issues?

LeMaitre was a 10.03ish basic guy. Bolings probably damn near matching that right now. I argue hell be about 10m05ish in basic this year, but he could dip below that if his 100m specific acceleration flashes out better this outdoor season. Theoretically, anyway. He could also end up at just 10.10.

But how about this, what's your view if Boling runs a 9.91 with a +2.0 this year, but "only" runs a 19.93 over 200? How would that fit into your bologna?

NFL WR's need to run 4.5ish in the 40, some run 4.3, in order to cover those guys ya need a "cornerback" who can also run a 4.5/4.4ish, white cats simply can't do it. Ya need at least 100 of these guys with 32 teams,
