Donovan while a speedster 4/800, 4x200 in HS has come so far. I remember the GV HS mile and he got out way fast with a lead of 5+ seconds on Fisher then in the last 700 went flat. The way he ran this favors an Olympic final as he put 4.5 seconds in last 225m and looked fresh.
I recall him saying 6miles was his LR. I hope that's not the case now he's really dialed in his round running at 800 evidenced at Worlds. It's inspiring to see him close the gap in 1500!

You're right, the numbers don't lie. 1:44 vs 1:46. Engels wins.
Taking his 1:48 at face value is disingenuous and you know it. He got cooked by a fast opening lap and blew up as a result, whereas the Ingebrigtsens received near-perfect pacing. Splits matter.
All of these guys are capable of 1:43 - 1:44, but I stand by my statement that Engels would have waxed both Ingebrigtsens had he raced them on the 30th.
No. Ingebrigtsens did this on 1500/5000 training without even sharpening for those. They would cook him in a race if all 3 were running against him. Yes he would have run 1:47 with better pacing in his TT but that puts him behind at least 2 of them. In the right race, all 3 could beat him.
you don't know after what training/tapering Engels ran that race. Could we keep the Ingebrigtstens out of this thread on Engels, Brazier etc.?

I’m convinced Donavan Braizer will be a WR holder in the 800/1500 when it’s all said and done. That was a spectacular close. He made that look incredibly easy.

No way he runs 3:25. He should at minimum run 1:41 mid, though, with a shot at 1:40 WR

He did an interview the other day and basically said he's not interested at all, and would rather double in the 4x4 if anything. This was before this race though.

if it is still essentially low mileage (and i have no doubt about it), it may be the most intelligent concept for the 800, the gold standard for comparable runners. i am deeply, deeply impressed.
