I mean, I'm not but I'm optimistic for their futures & don't feel like this is the time to find out what their mile potential is if it means traveling out of state & unnecessarily putting others at risk for COVID.

This wasn't doctors who got organized to do this. It was the other way around. For the last couple of weeks, Tiny and his minions have been trolling for doctors who would say they support him. Apparently he only found 500.
But our medical advice should come from our individual doctor even if it means killing our own child. So if each of the 7 competitors in the race this Saturday have a doctor who told them to go run, then you should butt out.
Looking at the forecast, these boys aren't getting a break with the weather on Saturday. Looks like it's going to be a warm, windy day, with steady 10 mph wind pretty much all day. They might have to wait it out and go late in the day/evening to see if that wind drops down enough to give them a better shot.

Even Webb didn't break 1:50 so I am wildly enthusiastic about Daschbach's chances here. Totally a shame that the Nico Young isn't there.

Some of these responses are a bit laughable. C'mon guys, quit it with the partisan responses. Medical guidelines are not partisan. It's not about you categorizing my feelings a type of way to make yourself feel better. There is a genuine safety concern here. These kids aren't above every race being canceled across America. If I had a kid I wouldn't be crossing state lines, putting myself, my family, and others, at increased risk. If you don't care, that's fine. I'm into being a bit more communal & I'm ok with that.
Communal? You are the opposite. All of the recent information is proving that lockdowns are causing additional deaths from suicide and robbery/murders and domestic abuse. Distancing was intended to save lives only in that hospitals would not be overwhelmed. It was intended to flatten the curve meaning the same number would be infected but over a longer period of time. Hospitals are not overwhelmed. States are open. Movie theaters are open. Bars are open. Gyms are open. Youth sports have started. I hate to disappoint you, but these kids and their parents are role models for what can be done.
There’s really no problem with “crossing state lines” if they don’t come in contact with anyone. I would be surprised if some of the drive there. Which in most regards is completely safe. There’s really no reason for them not to do this, they’ve probably been thinking about a sub 4 mile since at least last year and don’t want this opportunity truly taken from them.

Just because things are opening doesn't mean the risk goes down. This seems to be a pretty risky situation for several kids from different areas to come together in close contact during a race. Make no mistake this isn't the same as a solo time trial each one of these individuals will be infecting the others if they are a carrier (remember asymptomatic carriers are still a thing too) and since they don't know if the others have truly been in quarantine they are taking a big risk.
I know that people will say it doesn't affect people their age but that is not a fact. Anyone paying attention can see the real experts admit that they don't know everything about this disease and enough people have gotten really sick in young adult age brackets that it isn't a stretch to imagine an 18 year could be affected. Even taking out the idea of death some new studies show a risk of reduced lung capacity (I'm not a doctor and don't recall the exact terms) being a result of having this.
Again it looks like they are putting safeguards in place but considering all of these athletes have potential and promising futures these seems like a unnecessary risk. If they want to run a solo time trial and give it a shot, cool but this is a risky endeavor. These are the kinds of things that can set back communities which also increases the risk of their being no fall season if we can't get this under control
