What do I know, but could it possibly be related to a 2:18 marathon (within a 58K day), followed by a 28K double day, followed by a sub-15 """tempo""" 5K (within a 32K day)?
The hate we got on this thread for suggesting his training might not be the best idea is insane.

It's a high risk training strategy there are always going to be bumps in the road. One setback does not nullify the incredible consistency Jake has shown with his high mileage approach.
You seem to think that anyone that disagrees with you "hates". This is a discussion, it's ok to have different opinions. I'm not surprised RTJ is injured because I don't know any professional sports person that hasn't had injuries - including golf- it goes with the territory of pushing yourself. I think his train harder approach works for him... It's not an act, he's doing what he thinks works best. It's ok for you to think he's wrong and for others to think he's right.
Exactly, which makes all the smug "overtraining" comments in here even more stupid
So because he injured himself in a taper we discount the stupidly needless high mileage he generally runs?
Injuries aren't generally out of the blue. They're caused lack of recovery and too much running.
That's true for a casual runner but clearly not for a serious runner. It's true in every sport that injuries happen. I think a sanctimonious attitude is completely naive... people are operating right at the edge to get the best out of themselves - all serious runners get injured
Seemingly not really a taper as the rest of us might do one. Almost 60 miles in 3 days including a 14:56 5K "tempo" and then calf issue after a mile on 2nd run of the day yesterday.

But his training isn't like the rest of us might do, so it stands to reason that he's not just going to suddenly drop to a 40km easy week.
- Thomas and robbe suck sh-t at trail running. Half the podcast is them complaining about running 14 miles on the Appalachian trail. Thomas talks endless sh-t about how bad the trail is. They both roll their ankles multiple times. Robbe seems confident he will be able to finish the race. Thomas is still contemplating DNSing JFK 50. They will both have complementary shoes and kits for the race regardless. It’s a good thing they have dirt Taylor now to start and dnf trail races for them.
- Thomas doesn’t fold his own laundry. Meg does it for him.
- they complain once again about how much gear they get. How many clothes they have to manage, launder, and pack (especially when they’re doing trips sponsored by multiple brands and so have to pack for each brand)
- they all talk endless sh-t about a shoe they actually like. Everything about it is apparently great but it doesn’t fit their aesthetic.
Round 2 tomorrow at Beckenham Place. After getting his arse kicked by 37 amateur runners with full time jobs in Round 1 will Bester no show? Highly likely given the cult is assembling at the Brighton 10k on Sunday. Boomwankawanka.

He’s running Brighton 10k on Sunday. I’m not sure why he would risk a XC race 4 weeks out from a pancake flat road marathon.
His latest 3x10k vid was ridiculous. Seeing some 6ft Power Ranger in full running race kit pounding round Battersea being filmed by his own cheerleader while construction workers were grafting away was an interesting dichotomy.

There’s no way this poster isn’t a certain Aussie
A few years ago there was a Barnett posting London parkrun videos with a dry sarcastic wit. Wondering if it was this guy but looking back that was David and not an I so probably not him then.
