https://cew.georgetown.edu/wp-content/uploads/Americas-Divided-Recovery-web.pdfI understand about the recovery for college-educated people vs. non-college-educated people. I am not sure all of you are understanding my point here. Let me be as clear as I know how to be.
1) Not everyone is smart enough to graduate from college. Yes the recovery hasn't been as good to them. That sucks, and we should work to find an answer for that, but that fact doesn't magically makes those people smart enough to go to (to graduate from) college.
2) Right now, about 70% of high school graduates attempt college, but currently only about 36% of Americans who are old enough to have a college degree do have a college degree. That will climb a little as more go today than did once upon a time, but there are still a ton who try college and can't hack it.
3) We already have some very affordable options for people to go to college. Community Colleges, SATELLITE state colleges, lower-level colleges. Then there are scholarships available to those who are outstanding, there is amazing financial aid at a ton of colleges based on need. People can go part time and work, etc.
4) The graduation rate and transfer to 4-year colleges from Community Colleges is abysmal. The vast majority of these people who drop out do so because they can not handle college-level classes, not due to not being able to pay tiny amounts to go.
5) I am not against people going to college. I am against making it free for everyone, because not everyone needs to be going to college. We already have too many who attempt it who are not equipped to go. People need to be realistic about their talents. I wish I could have played major league baseball. People in hell want ice water. Not everyone is smart enough to graduate from college. You have to play the hand you're dealt.
5) There are A LOT of people who are well equipped to graduate from college who cannot afford it and either don’t go or have to drop out. We need to INCREASE the number of highly skilled workers. Free post-secondary education will do this. Those who are not equipped will still drop out like they do today. They will maintain the pedestrian growth of unskilled jobs. The need is to increase the number of highly skilled workers.

There could even be whole categories (Education, Manufacturing, Service Industry, etc.) and if you take a job in one of those fields during a time of need, you flat out get a check from the US Government after so many years.
That's a terrible idea.
You are asking the government to make predictions for future jobs based on current trends.
Ad you have to create a brand new government program and hire people with tax dollars to do this.
And people with political agendas may make final decisions on what gets funding because in the end, there will be subjectivity.
Make it simple.
A hundred years ago society decided high school should be free because it was beneficial to the country.
Extend that to 18-22 year olds for college tuition or trade schools with aptitude requirements for programs and schools.
Better schools will have stricter standards.
But success will be based on student's ability and not their parent's money for public schools.
Rich people can still send their kids to private schools for the prestige they want.

Correct, BUT we already have 70% doing it, which is too many to begin with. If you make it free, MORE WILL attempt it. We will be subsidizing a bunch of people who have NO business going to college, not just new ones who wouldn't have tried, but the crop that would have tried and failed anyway.
Why will they do this?
1) It is FREE, so why not?
2) By making it free, that is in effect giving even more prestige to those who go to college, further alienating those who decide not to go. Most people will want to at least try the thing that society seems to value more.
It is always a tough sell when you argue against something that is free. I just don't see the major benefit here, and I see the great potential to further divide our nation.
ALL of that said on this topic, I will gladly vote for Warren or Sanders over Trump or any other Republican candidate this time. The GOP has let the country down with this Trump fealty.

I would rather we not do it at all, but if we are to do it, I would like it to be targeted. You are correct that there will be political agendas that enter in. That isn't enough for me to decide it wouldn't be better than just blanket free college.

This story is especially ridiculous as no building owner in Manhattan would do such a thing. Just setting her up in an apartment in one of the outer buroughs would be extremely generous.
When ever you see a story about Trump doing something kind and generous the fact that he has not done something nice in his entire life, needs to be remembered.

Well, just when you think the desperate Dems can't get any more ridiculous, they go and gin up a fake scandal to begin a fake impeachment inquiry (before actually having any evidence- AGAIN)..... but then Trump ruins it by releasing a record of the conversation, which is far worse for Biden than Trump. So the whole "he's hiding something/cover-up tactic" falls apart immediately. It was classic Trump.
But to then take it to yet another level of ridiculousness, the Dems then actually defend the Biden's blatant corruption. Yes, while Biden was Vice President of the United States, his black sheep son (fired by the Navy for being coke head, for Christ's sake!, and then leaves his wife for his dead brother's wife) is hired by a Ukrainian Petroleum Company to sit on their board, for a measly $600K/year. With zero- that's right- ZERO experience in the field. Hmmm. And then Biden is caught ON TAPE bragging about withholding money from the Ukraine unless they get a prosecutor to stop investigating the company. Unbelievable. Biden is done, in case you aren't aware of it yet.
Let's not forget how silly the CIA "whistleblower" story is. Second and third hand information? Are you kidding me? Or how silly it is that the form that the "Whistleblower" used was just recently modified to not include a "first hand information" section, which typically carries the bulk of the weight toward making the account credible. It was changed in August. LOL. Nothing to see here though- totally normal- just a big coincidence I'm sure.
Then Adam Schiff literally makes up what he wanted people to think the transcript says, and reads it to Congress and the American people as what Trump said. It was amazing. Crazy times we're living in. It was great to watch Nunes sit right next to Schiff and call him out for being a lying scumbag, and congratulating he and the Dems on their "latest information warfare campaign against the president".
Following up on last month's IG recommendation to indict Comey, early this month the same IG also recommended indicting McCabe for his role in misleading investigators regarding the HRC Foundation probe. Little by little, it's all being proven what we on the Right have known for 3 years now- The FBI worked to help HRC elude charges for actually breaking the law, and worked to harm the Trump administration by spying and setting up Trump allies. This should offend any honest American. Unfortunately, TDS has infected much of the country, so they simply deflect and lie.
Lewandowsky testimony was hilarious. Even the CNN/MSNBC talking heads were saying Nadler and Co. "look like they don't know what they're doing" and have "allowed Lewandowsky to embarrass them again." How many more of these idiotic shows are we going to have to endure?
You guys see Avenatti is now suing Stormy Daniels? LOL! Some of the wackos on this thread thought he should run for president. Another good call that they're now surely just blocking out of their tiny minds.
Mueller did NOT come (despite several opportunities, and a lot of desperate begging, to do so).
Barr and Durham ARE coming.
The Clown is STILL Flagpole.
Current status of Flagpole’s Flagpole streak: 44+ months
Oh man- yet ANOTHER month here? This thread is now simply a self-help group for desperate, whiny Liberals living in fantasy land. Seriously, go back over the months and read some of what Clownpole, Agip, Trolldude, Fat Guy, etc. have been posting here. It's pure lunacy! How many times are they going to continue to get kicked in the balls with reality, and come back asking for more? Unfathomable.
Anyway, you Libs still holding out hope for that pesky little thing called "evidence" in the "impeachment" show? LOL! Why's everything being done in secret interviews now? Perhaps because the public testimony theatrics of the past couple years were absurd embarrassments (Kavanaugh fake story, Cohen, the Mueller elderly abuse, the Lewandowsky massacre, etc)?! Ya think that's it?! LOL- Silly, silly people.
It was good to see Biden's son finally drop from that Chinese company's board. Must've been hard for him though, being such a global business expert. LOL
Big news this month, was the DURHAM and BARR probes. Yep- unlike the Russiagate conspiracy show (which I mocked from day 1, mind you, and was proven 100% correct) the Durham investigation has transitioned to an actual CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION now. Why do you think that is? Hmmm. In conjunction with the FISA Abuse investigation being fully redacted..... Let's just say you Libs are going to be really, really mad very soon. At least you have a place to cry and vent here on LRC.
But arguably BIGGER news this month, was Trump's direction over the successful mission to finally get Al-Baghdadi AND his potential successor. Just as everyone is crying to leave troops in Syria, and that ISIS is "re-emerging" (they literally have lost 99% of their land- LOL), Trump delivers a massive blow WHILE helping to negotiate a cease-fire with Turkey.
Illegal border crossings continue to be WAY down since Trump's threat to tariff Mexico (took a whole 3 days- LOL).
The US economy continues to churn higher, and Wall Street is taking notice (setting all-time highs as I type).
The US-China trade agreement talks have made great progress since China tried to make Trump blink by manipulating their currency a few months back. Didn't work. Trump threatened to increase tariffs even more, and China came back to the table last month like the punks that they are. The China economy has slowed to under 6% for the first time in a long, long time.
What does this all mean for Liberals? Well, continued crying, whining, and speculation. And of course, yes, that we must notch another month for Flagpole's Flagpole Streak.
Mueller was a hilarious spectacle that will go down as one of the biggest Flagpole's in political history.
Barr and Durham ARE coming.
The Clown is STILL Flagpole.
Current status of Flagpole’s Flagpole streak: 45+ months
Oh lord. Yet another unproductive month for the liberal Demonrats trying to put the country through hell for their own political gain. Like I recommended last month- go back over the months and read some of what Clownpole, Agip, Trolldude, Fat Guy, etc. have been posting here. It's absolute lunacy! How many more times are they going to continue to get kicked in the balls with reality, and come back asking for more? Insufferable individuals.
So this month we were put through yet another series of sham theatrical testimony that resulted in NOTHING. Is this really how the Democrats plan on winning back power? Schiff for Brains continues to lie to the American people daily. Remember all that evidence of Russian Coooollllluuuusssssion that he said he "had seen"? LOL! Truth? He saw ZERO. Now he lies about not knowing the "Whistleblower." Jerk, we all know he (let's all him "Eric C." of the C I A) contacted your office first! Whew.
So over the last couple weeks, each and every "witness" that was asked by Republicans if they ever personally were told, heard, saw something communicated, or saw something doodled on a napkin regarding the dubious Quid Pro Quo.....said "no". Democrats were able to get Sondland to say he "presumed it was the case".....but he then goes on to verify that the Ukraine got the follow-on call White House, the meeting with the White House, and the $400M aide that they were expecting.....and that Trump never pressured the Ukraine president, and only said he wanted him to "do the right thing [in investigating corruption]." Sooooo, that's the best you've got? Wow. Maybe that's why Schiff appeared to be holding back tears at his final statement? LOL! Stupid douche.
The most interesting thing stemming from this round of fake testimony was just how self-important the DC bureaucrats believe they are. George Kent, the deputy assistant Secretary of State for Eastern Europe and the Caucuses, seemed to think he was in charge of Ukraine policy. Then Ambassador William Taylor essentially said the same thing. Then Vindman claimed it was his job to coordinate U.S. Ukraine Policy. Fiona Hill then claimed it was her job to coordinate U.S. policy on Ukraine. Likewise, Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland said he thought he was running U.S. policy on Ukraine. Not a single one of these self-important bureaucrats is an elected official, and none of them direct foreign policy.
The Dems' links to the Ukraine just won't go away. Aside from the obvious Hunter Biden conflicts, the Ukrainian investigation into Burisma appears to be heating up as announced in a recent press conference. MP Andriy Derkach recently announced at a press conference that “deputies have received new materials from investigative journalists alleging that the ‘family’ of ex-President Yanukovych funneled $7.4 billion through American investment firm Franklin Templeton Investments, which they claim have connections to the US Democratic party.” Hmmm.....Maybe this explains the Democrat hysteria over Trump asking about Ukraine’s corruption?
In another hilariously transparent MSM effort to control narrative, news of the IG FISA Abuse Report coming out Dec 9th was immediately followed by anonymous leaks [that claim that it's going to get the HRC emails investigation treatment]. You know, "the FBI was sloppy....unprofessional...." and no one is being charged with any bias or wrongdoing. Oh, except for one low-level FBI lawyer charged with altering a document to the FISA court. LOL!! How stupid does our government think we are?
So assuming this is the case (we'll see on Dec 9th, apparently) the DOJ/IG has now recommended indictments for McCabe for lying to FBI internal investigators.....Comey for stealing, lying and leaking classified documents/memos.....this new fall-guy for altering a FISA court document.....possibly more, we'll see.....all while the other current investigation into what actually started the Russia Hoax (the Durham investigation) has evolved into an official CRIMINAL investigation.
Does anyone still believe that the Trump campaign and administration wasn't spied on and then framed after his devastating victory? Honestly.
Meanwhile, the economy continues to roar, the stock market continues to soar, the number of illegals coming across our southern border has been reduced by 70%, the ISIS leader(s) (2) have been killed after we took 99% of their land control, the EU is contributing more to the UN, etc., etc.
Remember Avenatti? LOL!! I think he's being sued by some woman named Daniels. Some jokers here thought he'd be a good president.
Mueller was a predictable disaster for anyone that's not an imbecile.
Barr and Durham ARE coming.
The Clown steadfastly remains Flagpole.

The old man has gone senile. This is elder abuse and his family needs to remove him from the campaign.
"No president has ever been removed from office, Van Drew, 66, points out. And to have a "small, elite group" of lawmakers do so when an election is less than a year away seems to him to be not only unfathomable but un-American."
Exactly!
