On a separate note, I think the Trump administration deserves credit (that's sincere) for having the mint finally stop coining pennies. (There are actually solid arguments for eliminating the nickel--and even the dime!--as well, but that's a different discussion.)

Penny production should have been nixed before the turn of the century, but if W or BHO or JRB had pushed for it, it would have been a cause célèbre for weeks or months. We'd have been hearing from talking heads and editorial writers, bemoaning the loss of the penny, ad nauseam.

As it was, with all the other shit that's happening on a daily basis, the end of penny production was barely mentioned by the various news media. I don't think President Trump's predecessors could have pulled that off.

generic congressional poll keeps moving toward the Dems. New cyclical best of D+6.3% today.

Keep in mind that R gerrymandering means Dems probably have to win the popular vote for congress by around 4% to win the House. Although if the Tex and FL gerrymanders fail because of hispanics returning to reason that 4% number might not work this time.
