"A 2025 study published in The Lancet estimated that permanent large-scale cuts to United States Agency for International Development programs could result in about 14 million additional deaths globally by 2030, including roughly 4.5 million children under age 5. That same research estimated the cuts could lead to roughly 2.4 million excess deaths per year if most programs remain dismantled. Other analyses from the Center for Global Development estimated a lower—but still severe—range of about 500,000 to 1 million additional deaths annually from the reductions. Researchers at Boston University School of Public Health created live “impact trackers” modeling increases in deaths from HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, diarrhea, and child malnutrition tied to the funding cuts."

C'est la vie. We can't prevent every death in the world. As I type this someone has probably died in the Sudanese civil war. It's tragic but it's not my (or America's) problem to fix.
Remember only 12-14 months ago how Trumpers were vehemently defending Elon Mush and Doge? It was a brief moment in time but they temporarily turned into the most stringent fiscal conservatives. They really believed that Mush and Trump were deeply concerned about waste and fraud. And still defended DOGE even when it was proven that Mush was not finding any of the trillion he promised in savings. Mush's own DOGE web page was full of garbage and lies.
In hindsight we can all see what that was. An effort to purge our federal agencies and steal valuable data. Yet none of this causes the Trump clan to have an epiphany and conclude that Trump is always operating a con job on them. Instead they move on to the next con job and defend it. Like the Iran War. Trump Arch. Ballroom. Trump coins.
Steal from me Daddy!
USAID is basically gone. You can't put a dollar value on that but that's an immense benefit to our Country and the World as a whole.

“The Lancet now projects that the dismantling of USAID will produce 14 million additional deaths by 2030 — with a plausible range of 8.5 million to 19.7 million — including 4.5 million children under 5. That is approximately 700,000 dead children per year. Roughly one every 45 seconds, around the clock. They will die of diarrhea, pneumonia, malaria and mother-to-child HIV transmission. These are illnesses the U.S. had been preventing for 17 cents per American per day.”

You’re very proud of this.
It's not our job to fix the problems of the entire world.

When did you decide that you didn’t care about being a good person? There’s also the fact that, in addition to be callous and self-centered to the point of ridiculousness, you’re just so unbelievably stupid. Seat belts don’t prevent every car accident death. I guess there’s no point to them, either!
For pennies per American, there could have been millions of people that didn’t die early deaths, people that deserved some small opportunity for the happiness and contentment in life that you piss away on this message board every day.
I can see why Trump’s your hero: he’s also an idiot who also doesn’t care about anyone besides himself, either.

Actually, as the richest country and the leader of the free world, it is. And this isn’t asking us to spend $30 billion on a war that will empower Iran and result in the deaths of American servicemen and hundreds of schoolgirls.
For a fraction of that, millions of people could have been alive today. You lack the basic capacity to care for someone unknown to you.
It's pretty simple you are an unapologetic Israel supporter so you support the war with Iran. It's a Trump war so you pretend you are against it like Chuck Schumer.
here's more on how good UKR is at fighting and that we need to learn how they do it, before our soldiers get slaughtered in the next war. Revolutionary stuff. Hegseth wants a lethal army..he needs to go to kiev, apologize for his ashholery, and do some learning from the best. the bulwark:
"Anywhere between 70 and 96 percent of Russian casualties are now caused by drones. In March, Zelensky said that among Russian forces, “out of 100 percent of losses, 62 percent are killed and 38 percent wounded.” This ratio is astounding; in modern warfare there is usually a killed-to-wounded ratio of between 1-to-3 and 1-to-5. Russian losses nearly invert this ratio due to their unsupported infiltration tactics, the lethality of drones, lack of transportation, poor battlefield medicine, and enormous “gray zone” on either side of the front lines where movement is all but impossible because of the profusion of drones. The current rate of about 1000 total Russian casualties per day (based on Ukrainian estimates) translates to 620 dead per day, 18,600 per month, and 226,300 per year. If Ukraine can achieve their goal of 50,000 Russian casualties per month, that translates to 372,000 Russians killed in action per year. Reaching that goal is predicated on boosting drone production to 10 million FPVs per year. Ukraine has successfully expanded its military production infrastructure to the point that they have significantly more capacity than money to build munitions. This is why Ukraine is offering to export weapons during the middle of the war—to raise money for their own needs. According to Zelensky, “A surplus of production capacity in Ukraine for certain types of weapons reaches 50 percent, and this is a direct result of our state investment in Ukraine’s defense industry and our cooperation with partners.” The big takeaway for the United States should be that financial military aid could go directly to producing drones that are far cheaper than those made here, and also far better. Ukrainian drones cost between $400 and $700, if they’re equipped with thermal vision. Splitting the difference gives an average of about $550 dollars per drone. The total cost of 10 million drones comes to about $5.5 billion. Subtract the 5 million drones Ukraine is already able to produce on its own, and the price tag for reaching the 10 million–drone goal falls to $2.25 billion. That’s not a lot, considering the military and economic damage they could do to the Russians."
Very telling how you don't deny that you support the war with Iran. All you apartheid state supporters are bloodthirsty. You are right through the FPV drones are extremely important and it's good to see them in use against the occupiers of southern Lebanon.

always remember that the republicans cut off ukraine utterly and rooted for Russia.
meanwhile, UKR is leading the way.
🇺🇦🇺🇸 Secretary of the Army Driscoll: "Ukraine's Delta common operating system, their modular open system architecture, C2 system is absolutely incredible. It fully integrates every single drone, sensor, and shooting platform into just one single network. Ours does not." Wow, if only Ukraine was offering the United States some sort of deal that would facilitate the sharing of this technology.
There's a guy in my neighborhood with both an Israel and trump flag flying in his yard. He, and other maga just like him, fully support this. I wonder what the next level of depravity will look like 🤔

careful with these Kristoff opinion pieces. the reporting is questionable. to my knowledge these are not stories that cleared the news desk - they are in the opinion section.
