So berube is a top 20 individual? Or even better? Since it was a slower course right?

If nobody but him got faster since last year then yes he absolutely would be. Regardless, he looks to be in monster shape right now so instead of saying no I'll say, we'll wait and see.

Come ON! Lee Berube almost breaks the course record that was set last year in a race with 4 All-American's and it was a slow day! Give me a break! Also last year 7 guys broke 26 min which shows that this year was a faster race... sorry Geneseo, Fredonia, RIT etc who got owned this weekend buy the Paul Short teams. Paul Short is at most 30 seconds faster than Geneseo.
I am so sick of hearing the excuses from Fredonia and Geneseo about slow courses. Letchworth is almost as fast as they come.
I said the course was slower than last year...which is true...never said it was a slow course. There were muddy sections and the grass was wet and slick.
I don't go to either of those schools BTW.
So were you there last year? Last year it was wet too, and the grass hadn't been cut. It was longer than any course I had seen. I am an alumni of a school that never competes for NCAA's I'm just sick of seeing the excuse of it being a slow course every time geneseo and fredonia run.
The course drained really well for how much it has been raining. It was still a bit lush on some parts and the puddles and mud on the trails are undeniable, but I dont think it made a huge difference. Good stuff by Geneseo though.
I think the 30 second difference from paul short to letch may be accurate, maybe a little more.
I believe Ted Turner has the course record he set in 2004 at NYSCTC. It was the first year of the current course. He ran 24:5x something.
If you think the Paul Short times are at all legitimate, you need to reach behind you, proceed to pull your head out of your ass, and take a good look around.

What would make the times from paul short not legitimate, that course has been used as a regional sight and has every mile and kilometer measured out.
Geneseo (by a lot)
RIT
UR (surprised no one has been talking about them...)
Fredonia
Geneseo Alum

Spoken by someone who has clearly never raced there.
someone was telling me the course was 5 miles, not an 8k. which does not make barely any difference ~10s, but is there truth to this?

The only course that this is really true about is Albany.
Paul Short is really just a blazing course, not short.
Paul Short is 8k. Every year everyone talks about how it is short and how the times run there are illegitimate and so on. And yet I don't recall a situation when those times run at Paul Short weren't superseded or at least backed at some time later in the season. Example: Last year Cortland averaged around 24:50 at Paul short. They then went on to average a much faster Pace per mile at Penn State two weeks later. And then they capped the season off winning it all. You will find the same trend with teams like Haverford, Plattsburg girls a couple years ago, Alleghany, as well as other. Take Paul Short what it is: an opportunity to race great competition on a great college cross country course. The race is fast but then again I'm pretty sure that no race in the SUNYAC conference offers the same competition as Iona, Indiana, or any of the other quality D1 programs that frequent the meet.
I will also say hats off to Mike Heyman for a great race from a work horse. It is good to see him backing up that phenomenal Indoor and Outdoor season he had last year.
I was at Paul Short. Rain in the morning and rain earlier in the week. Not bad conditions I'll admit but definitely not as good as years past, and definitely not perfect.
Results are up on
I think this race proves Fredonia is very very overrated especially if Williams isnt running up to par. They've got a lot of work to do on the course rather than on this message board.
I hope Beck gets a hold of his team and gets them off here running their mouths about nothing.
Plattsburgh, RIT, Geneseo, UofR, NYU, Cortland, SLU all easily better than Fredonia right now.
Fredonia at best finishes 8th this year and I'd be willing to guess more like 9-11.

As Tom has already come on here to say, the only people giving Fredonia a bad name are the anonymous posters who, I can attest, have absolutely no connection with SUNY Fredonia. If you have a problem with it, hey, that makes two of us because we don't enjoy the negative attention either. As it stands the majority of our team have no idea this thread even exists and we, as a team, realize that we are not perfect and that we need to work hard if we want to fulfill our own goals. Nowhere in those goals does it read "come on letsrun and act like jackasses." We, those of us who do read this thread and the Fredonia squad as a whole, would appreciate it if, rather than attacking our team, you keep the bickering to a poster to poster basis. Pick apart our results, we all realize that's part of the process, but please don't bash our team for something we cannot control and something that we aren't a part of.
Sincerely,
Eddie Novara

I don't know man. Geneseo is looking pretty damn good right now. I think they could give Cortland a run for their money on a good day, especially on a tougher course. The rest looks pretty close to right, although I don't think we have seen the full NYU squad yet.

I'd say switch St. Lawrence and NYU...and maybe a 1a. and 1b. for Geneseo and Cortland...I can't pick one over the other right now.
After looking through the results from Geneseo, I must say I was most unimpressed with Brockport, especially their women (even though they were 2nd). The only one who seems to be racing better than last year is Streeter, but still not really fast.
