Underdog california team, redondo union, whos goal is to try to actually make the state meet this year handily beats jserra (returns 4:17.3 average for 5 runners) and mira costa (4:21 average for 5 runners) in their first race of the season. Hopefully rich will move them up from the rated race to sweepstakes
Does Rene Paragas still coach there?
Bob Leetch is the Redondo coach. Rene Paragas used to be the Saugus coach.
>Ayala CA and Bentonville AR currently sit at #1, #2 in the national rankings for hoka 2 mile race averaging 9:35, 9:36
Two observations. #1. The supposed #1 boys varsity score listed for last year (Brookline) has a typo (comma not dot) and since Hoka didn't sanitize their inputs it counted the #1 runner with a 00:09.24 time rather than a 09:24.31. That extra 9.25 minute savings bumped 'em just a little... #2 Only 107 boys varsity teams listed so far this year, there were 658 last year so don't draw too many conclusions yet!

I mean this is great, but theres so much room for them to improve, rumor has it they were tempoing during this time trial. The incredibly dynamic duo of Schmungus and Cheese will rock the country and have the potential to be the nation's most lethal 2-3 this season. Barrett will win every meet he runs, schmungus and cheese will be far behind but not too far. Then theres the juniors. Not only will the moment do everything in his power to take down the likes of cheese, "Cheddabob" will be in the hunt to beat all of them if healthy, hes on the joe barrett pipeline and has run similar times year over year. He may not run 8:43 yet or be a one stick, but theres no reason he cant be top 3-5 in NJ MOC, and top 35 at NXN this year. I deduct that CBA will win NXN and will have a season high 5 man average speed rating of 186.8 at the NJ MOC.
Clearly some cba alumni “Matt mastroly” messing around with terms I don’t even understand. Tf is a “schmungus?” Mastrolys brother is still currently on the team, could be some shot at his brother and his crew. Would be interesting to know why?

I don’t think anyone’s saying that Ayala and Bentonville are the best 2 teams in the country right now.
Bentonville having a faster average than last year just shows that they will still be able to compete for an NXN spot with some of the top Texas teams
It was run on the St. Vrain Invite course in Lyons this year. It’s a hilly course at around 5500.’ Culpepper ran 16:10 on that course last September at the St. Vrain invite. Niwot’s top 8 ran faster than that at this meet. Their times on this course are very impressive.
If this was indeed on St Vrain course this was a very impressive showing. Last year only Benji Anderson broke 16. Year before that only 7 including some big names. Course is a good 45-50 seconds slower than liberty bell.

I mean this was to be expected. Their entire tea was sophmores and juniors and they got 5th nxn

I didn’t realize Rocky was so senior heavy. Returners for next year have speed ratings of 176, 163, 144, 142, 140, 139, 138, 133, 131. Obviously a long season ahead for those to improve but they started last year with 178, 157, 155, 155, 153, 150. The 153 ran JV and won by a bunch and then the next week ran 164. So 178, 164, 157, 155, 155, 150 for returners in their first varsity races of the year last year.

They almost always have 4-5 seniors in their varsity but then reload every year because they are one of the top 5 deepest teams in the nation.
The Northwest will look a lot different next year. CDA looses pretty much the rest of their 2023 team, Crater will lose two guys who have a shot to individually win the region. Rocky graduates a ton and may be unable to reload for the first time in a while.
It wouldn't surprise me if any of those 3 teams didn't end up in the top 5 at NXR next year.
CDA brings back guys that ran 9:17 as a freshman, 9:32 as a sophomore, sub 10 as a freshman, and two guys that ran under 4:45 as 8th graders. They are super deep this year and should be next year.
Rocky does look less deep this year compared to last year and the year before.
With the cross-country season underway in some states, what better time to release the COROS Milesplit50. Check out the top 25 boys XC runners in the country!
