It's the Laffer curve, not Laffer line.
You initially gain revenue by raising taxes and then reach a point where you lower revenue when taxes get too high.
If we are to the left of optimal in the below chart then lower taxes will create lower revenue.
And politically speaking, it is difficult to raise taxes so you don't want to put yourself in a hole where taxes are set too low and you can't go back.

I think it is ridiculous if Letsrun allows the name of this ALLEGED whistle blower to remain on its site. Fox News has banned the use of his name, NOT because of any journalistic integrity (though Fox News DOES have some...not the opinion side of the business though), but because they don't want to be SUED.
This person who has been outed as the potential whistle blower has a case to be made for law suits no matter if he is the whistle blower or not. He has protections under the law.
It is reckless and low to publish this person's name. Why do it? The ONLY reason is to intimidate him and potentially others from speaking truth to power. Can't just rely on the facts of the case here because the facts do NOT put the President in a good light at all. The whistle blower isn't even important at this point as many others have corroborated the story, the readout of the call has corroborated the story, Trump and Mulvaney and Giuliani have all admitted to breaking the law, and then Trump did it on camera. Whistle blower was the genesis, but his/her importance is long gone.
I believe this is a bannable offense. Not too hard for a lawyer's office to find all the sites that allowed his name to remain when it comes time for that. Outing this name promotes intimidation and violence. Should not be allowed.

Since the Democrats are in control of the House, they also changed the rules for what constitutes a whistleblower. Hearsay is now permitted. This is politics people.

The current whistleblower law was unanimously passed by both houses in 1989. Even Mitch McConnell voted for it.
