Robert Young fakes run across America

Holding on whilst running would be difficult. But there are steps at the back.

Robs crew have said that he would often run behind, and allow the RV to drive on at running pace during the night, and would then signal them with his flashlight if he needed them to stop. I could see a situation where he could run behind and then climb aboard the ladder without the driver even noticing. Occasionally jumping down, letting the RV get a little way down the road and then signalling them to slow down. I'd think that at least one of the crew would have to be in on it, but not necessarily all of them.

It does not take weeks to release GPS data from a watch.

This alone makes him a bullshitter. They have not given ANY good excuse on why they haven't released the data, they just haven't, BECAUSE IT DOESN'T FIT THEIR STORY.

He looks capable of being a decent runner...

OK, you had to bring Joe into this.....

First, a little history. Over the last three years, Joe has been the most dominant 6 Day runner in the world.

I crewed Joe for all four of his 6 Day runs, and worked with him on pacing and strategy for the last three.

I was asked how many sub 7 min/mile Joe ran during these competitions. ZERO!

If Joe were to run a lap at sub 9 min/mile, he would get the 'slow down' sign from me. But this would only happen on Day 1 - in the first 50 miles when the legs are still fresh and it's so easy to pick up the pace.

These runs were all done on small looped courses (0.26-1.05 miles) that are flat; closed to traffic; with waterbottle handoffs every lap. In other words, optimal conditions.

Now, running sub 7 min/mile during a transcon, on the open road, after a week?

That's nonsense.

Yeah it's a shame. America is the same way. All these "fun" runs and 5Ks that they charge $25 to $40 for and some even give out finisher medals for all finishers of a 5K!!! I'm not kidding. Check out soleracing.org. That kind of crap ruins our sport and makes it a joke.

RY is a pro athlete, has a sponsorship, his own manager, his official website, social media, his book...

I hope someone can convince Skins to drop RY and sponsor a legit athlete like him. But I guess Joe has a less spectacular story than RY;

That's all very true for the very elite. However, they aren't doing 70+ miles a day in the desert heat at this pace for weeks on end. And certainly RY has never shown any ability anywhere near that of an elite runner. Which makes his split times out west incredibly ridiculous.

If we want to protect our sport from cheaters then we need to take action. It isn't enough that we have enough circumstantial evidence to say he is a cheat, we need to go out there and make the masses don't fall for this any more.

Please take the time, write an Amazon review! He will sell less books, and won't be seen in the same light.

There was a fishing line attached to the RV and Rob would hook it onto his belt buckle.

Regarding the sub 7 minute mile paces before the boots hit the ground, what is the general opinion of what happened?

A. RY knew he could always take rest rides whenever he feels like it through the evening so he therefore made a point of running some quicker paces here and there. In other words he wasn't running a true transcon that required energy conservation so why the hell not throw some speed in there too?

B. The dopes driving the RV (with RY riding in it) were just too stupid to have it run slow enough due to a lead foot. They didn't bank on the public scrutiny of the paces of the tracker.

Been piecing together the tomtom screenshots on 5/21-23 on top of the tracker points (coming into and out of flagstaff). It seems like one of the watches is in london time for this stretch. You have to subtract 5 to get ET (tracker time).

But overall noting too interesting, just the huge gaps in tomtom data. One segment will end, then 10 mile gap, then 1.5mile segment, then 5 mile gap, etc. It's just weird. Either they didn't upload all of the data, or they are just idiots and recorded only random short segments and will have to fabricate the rest from scratch.
