In my opinion, the wealth disparity is actually part of the issue that drove people to Trump in the first place. A lot of those red states are full of poor people who take a lot of federal aid and feel like they're looked down upon by wealthier people on the coasts

Big news this month, was the DURHAM and BARR probes. Yep- unlike the Russiagate conspiracy show (which I mocked from day 1, mind you, and was proven 100% correct) the Durham investigation has transitioned to an actual CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION now. Why do you think that is? Hmmm. In conjunction with the FISA Abuse investigation being fully redacted..... Let's just say you Libs are going to be really, really mad very soon. At least you have a place to cry and vent here on LRC.

But arguably BIGGER news this month, was Trump's direction over the successful mission to finally get Al-Baghdadi AND his potential successor. Just as everyone is crying to leave troops in Syria, and that ISIS is "re-emerging" (they literally have lost 99% of their land- LOL), Trump delivers a massive blow WHILE helping to negotiate a cease-fire with Turkey.

Illegal border crossings continue to be WAY down since Trump's threat to tariff Mexico (took a whole 3 days- LOL).

The US economy continues to churn higher, and Wall Street is taking notice (setting all-time highs as I type).

The US-China trade agreement talks have made great progress since China tried to make Trump blink by manipulating their currency a few months back. Didn't work. Trump threatened to increase tariffs even more, and China came back to the table last month like the punks that they are. The China economy has slowed to under 6% for the first time in a long, long time.

What does this all mean for Liberals? Well, continued crying, whining, and speculation. And of course, yes, that we must notch another month for Flagpole's Flagpole Streak.

Mueller was a hilarious spectacle that will go down as one of the biggest Flagpole's in political history.

Barr and Durham ARE coming.

You're getting a little carried away about EV cars in California. I live in California and rarely see any. They represent about 5% of car sales in the state.

You probably aren't looking for them. I live in Georgia where the share is less than 2% and I see EV's every day (not just mine). They look just like any other car, so you don't notice if you aren't looking for them.

In California, it's about 5% of all sales now. That number keeps growing and growing year after year. The main problem right now is supply. There is far more demand than supply for electric vehicles. But supply will catch up.

On top of that, there is growing momentum for a ban on new sales of gasoline cars. I'm guessing the ban will go into effect around 2030, but it could be sooner.

So when I say in a few years, most Californians won't buy gasoline, that's a pretty safe bet.

You should visit the state someday. I live in California and, believe it or not, I dont have to wade through sh*t to get to the mailbox. Although I've never searched for human turds on the sidewalk, I've never seen one in all my years of living in the Sacramento area.

A story: Years ago driving from Houston to the border with Louisiana I stopped for gasoline at a small town station. Everyone seemed to drive a truck in that town. To get to the register to prepay for the gasoline I had to meander around a massive number of chewing tobacco spit wads on the ground, including near the entry to pay for gasoline. This just-spit-it-on-the-ground, as well as just-throw-it-out-the-car-window, are severe problems in small towns through Trump states.

Your explanation of what causes homelessness is outrageously naïve. How old are you?

Population growth in California has been almost exactly in line with the U.S. median state growth over the last decade. This, despite all the legal/illegal immigration and all of the enormous positives related to great weather, geography and pockets of incredible minds that create things we all love. Outside of those pockets, California is struggling to maintain it's status.

A friend of mine lives in the suburbs of San Francisco. Very high density living, very high costs. Last time he came to visit us in our particular Midwest/Great Lakes state, we were driving around our downtown area, and he said "it's amazing how much better the quality of life is here for what you pay." I know how much he makes. It's a lot. But if you do the CoL calculator from SF to our city, it's basically the same as what I make, but I get much more utility. This really starts to matter when you have kids.

Your article gives no basis for calling them the 13 "worst" wildfires. They don't define "worst".

But objective measures show us that wildfires in California (and worldwide) have been increasing in recent years. For instance, if you measure by acreage burned, you find that 12 of the 15 largest California fires happened since 2007. And that's with modern firefighting equipment and techniques.

If this was a natural thing, then the largest fires would be spread out over time and you would see the largest fires occurring back when we had less capacity to fight them.

Instead, we have exactly what scientists have predicted would happen with climate change. We have more intense wet and dry seasons. The wet season causes more growth. The dry season causes that growth to dry out, which provides more fuel for the fires.

Hahahaha-- lack of supply is the problem?! It's lack of demand at a reasonable price point. It's taken all these years, vilification of ICE autos, tax incentives, etc. to get to where we are. The problem has always been lack of demand because the EVs are too expensive and cancels out any economic gain. Supply has never been the problem.
