Ranking WI collegiate distance programs

Word has it that Parkside is parting ways with Thomas Breitbach. Also heard Milwaukee is looking to hire a full time xc coach. Can anyone substantiate these rumblings? If so, who are the best fits for these openings?

Yes, Breitbach's contract was not renewed; he was told the news in Jan/Feb. he kept it a secret from the team until about a month ago. They are actively looking for a new head coach.

2019 wrap up re-rank

1. Wisconsin

Morgan McDonald and Ollie Hoare, need I say more.

2. Eau Claire

DI talent Kyler Lueck finally puts the beat down on D3 Land. DI talent Darin Lau extends career to 5th year outdoor only season and picks up 2 more all-american. DI talent Patrick Treacy runs 3:47 and picks up 2 more all-american ribbons as well. The rest of the distance roster scored 8 points at WIAC. Time to recruit again, and by recruit I mean, check out the DI transfer portal.

3. Marquette

Eagan, Miller, and Gross all ran 1:50-1:51, Daniel Pederson was 3rd in the Big East 10k. Point totals were respectable this time around.

4. La Crosse

I guess they just didn't care about nationals this year, but they still had several people go.

5. Oshkosh

Several 800m athletes made nationals, Coach is good at getting dumb people into school, they have a bright future.

6. Platteville

Zach Lee had a good year.

7. Carroll

People forget about them, but Grant Marton and some random 5k Freshman guy sneak them on this list.

8. Milwaukee

Not as good as last year, but still scoring a lot more points than they usually do.

9. Stevens Point

Can't name any of their guys, but they picked up a solid amount of points again.

10. Whitewater

They have one guy every 10 years. David Fassbender is that guy.

Can someone please explain what happened to Tagliapietra on UWM. He didn't race in their opener so it looks like he's out again. That would put him at only competing in 2/7 seasons since being in college. One of Milwaukee's best recruits and he ran 14:32 as a freshman indoor in his first 5000. Will he ever race again?

I looked him up on the UWM website but couldn't find anything concrete:

2018-19 Season

2019: Indoor/Outdoor: Was sidelined by injury and did not compete, maintaining sophomore eligibility.

2018 Cross Country: Did not compete.

2017-18 Season

2018 Outdoor: Competed

2018 Indoor: Competed

2017 Cross Country: Suffered an injury midway through his first collegiate meet and did not compete again ... received a medical hardship waiver and maintained freshman eligibility.

What about the NJCAA? There are several programs in Wisconsin with XC teams.

I tabbed your post a while back as something I wanted to respond to but never got around to it. Over time I personally have not always agreed with Zen on his opinions but one thing I can assure you as a parent is that the kids on my son's team absolutely love that site. The stuff Zen came up with this fall is nothing like anything you could find anywhere else. He's got record lists and unfathomable historical visuals like you could not believe that all bring an enjoyable layer to the sport of cross country. Just this evening I saw an amazing write up on the North Woods of Wisconsin. He dug up the entire Braveland and Falls North a couple of weeks ago. You could not expect anything more. It is a great, great site and works well on my iphone unlike this one. I can't speak enough about the level of my experience there but if it tells you anything I am happy to read the content most every day. It has been a genuine and truly one of a kind experience these past two years. If anything is labeled crazy it is the disparaging group of imbeciles that posted on this thread because I will personally attest they have absolutely no clue as to what they are talking about. - CP
