Wayne Phipps just named as Washington State University track and field head coach. What a buzz kill! This proves that the Athletic Depatment at WSU just doesn't want to be competitive. They are so small minded, and just happy to be in the Pac-12. What a crappy attitude to have. I feel sorry for all WSU athletes.
I completely agree! Several legitimate PAC 12 coaches applied for this job and did not get an interview. Not sure how you could even compare the WAC to the PAC 12. What a joke!

Word on the street is a certain PAC-12 distance coach who is from northern Idaho is the front runner for this position. Could be interesting.
The IU hirings will continue the shake-up. They are going to leave some great jobs to fill and maybe 2-3 steps of hirings behind them (i.e. other D-I Head Coaching jobs to be filled)...
Why be so cryptic. Whose is headed to B-Town?! No one knows who you are anyways so make yourself feel better and just say it.

UCLA distance coach Forest Braden is the front runner to get the Idaho job. Not sure if he will take it but the timing would be perfect for Braden to become head coach.
It would be pretty ridiculous not to give it to Julie Taylor. Perfect timing for Forest, because his athletes suck at UCLA. The guy hardly has enough experience under his belt.

I see a post regarding a women's assistant position at Eastern Michigan mentioning a grad assistantship and one without; to my knowledge they just hired a new women's assistant this year, anyone have input.

Phipps needs to fire everyone at WSU and start from scratch. I wouldn't keep anyone on that staff all the way down to their volunteers. Don't keep anyone.

Phipps hiring is a joke. It took WSU 9 months to fill a position and didn't make a splash at all. WSU will continue to be the bottom of the barrel for years to come. Phipps is no better than a top tier D3 coach he consistently recruited foreigners to Idaho that get destroyed by non scholarship runners from Eastern Washington.
Clean house at WSU? Not sure if you heard, but Li turned down the job for the lack of money for himself and his assistants. So tell us, who with a decent resume will want to come to WSU for crap money? Angela Whyte? Mark MacDonald, Matt McGee, Debra Farwell and even Tim Riley have been pretty successful at WSU. These coaches are passionate about the program and will continue to bring success to WSU. Phipps would be an idiot to completely clean house.

Huh? What the? Could we re-define the word terrific? How many of his distance kids have run sub 2:05, 4:20, 9:55st, 16:00, 34:15(women) and sub 1:49, 3:44, 8:50st, 13:50, 29:00.
