American Fork put 2 in front of Herriman's 1... that will matter more come NXR.
Herriman still the obvious favorite. I wonder if AF can put those 2 ahead of Niwot's #1 as well...
Feels to me American Fork is 3rd best team after niwot but we will have to see what cba and southlake carroll can do
their number 5 dallin is still getting adjusted to altitude so expect improvements from him when coming down to race at sea level races like nxr southwest, nxn
American Fork was missing Plewe (9:24 / 4:13) and freshman Hejny. It wouldn’t make a big difference in the scoring but it would add more depth.
Viewmont 3rd (147), Mountain View 4th (156), Lone Peak 5th (159). Riverton dominated the PM race and based on times they look to compete with those teams as well.
Herriman, Niwot, and AF are the clear top 3 at NXR SW.
Mountain View is not the favorite for 4th place at NXR SW like many of us thought they would be. If there’s going to be a second at-large boys team at NXR SW, it’s very much up for grabs because there are some other Colorado teams that are really good, like Valor Christian and Coronado.
Right now the gap between Herriman and AF is quite big. I think this is the year Herriman wins the Utah state meet (which they haven’t done since 2012) and takes first at NXR SW (which they have never done before).
some info i was able to find about timpangos invite - stravas show between 3.15-3.19. tempatures at 70 - interviews said it had some swamp like terrain so despite flat not an easy course, i watched some race videos i could see thicker grass, most importantly the race took place at 4500 feet altitude. herriman guys talked about big goals coming woodbridge. going for 3 peat and hoping to get guys under 14 minutes. very likely to happen. Jane looked good on the girls side. She said that her main focus this year will be Dec 5 at nxn.
When I talked to the Rocky coach at a clinic this summer he said that part of the reason they don't do many big meets is that their schedule just doesn't work. Tiger Grizz, Bob Firman, their Hoka Postal TT, and of course their sectional/state meets are non-negotiable.
I'm not sure why they couldn't make Timponogos happen, but they signed up pretty last minute so maybe they had bussing issues.
Either way, we'll get some data today, but it would be nice if they traveled up to Spokane. I checked their old schedule's and before covid they would travel up to Washington once per season.
I feel like the pressure on rocky mountain to race out of state is a bit unfair considering teams in midwest, northeast never do that. it is mostly just a west/south thing
Its important for Rocky to do it if they want an at large. Midwest and northeast arent going to get at larges for a while so they don't bother.
He really is the favorite right now. This shows TrackXcnews overvaluing track performances. Putz ran 23 seconds faster than last year where he took 5th at nxn yet he only ran 4:12 for the 1600 in track.

Manny Putz starts the season off with a 193! Feels like he could be the next drew griffith. I remember when drew griffith would start his season with really high speed ratings, and I would question them lolol
